when you look at it straight from a salary dump...yes Lopez > Lee. When you look at it as a chance to get back into the playoffs Lee > Lopez.

none of this is getting them into the playoffs. and they could probably draft a player that will make more of a difference at 4 then courtney lee. this has to be about clearing cap space.

its about clearing Parsons albatross contract, still staying in the lottery, and getting contributing players.

I think all 3 are weighing on the decisions. Its not just cap space...

there was no parsons level contract involved in that deal. Parsons might be a worse deal then Noah. Think about that for a second. Now assess what it would take for the knicks to deal Noah?

everyone killed the Hornets for that move. And that move had more to the eye. Charlotte blows and they wanted to get under the luxury tax...They shed about 8 million off the cap this year. For an extra year of mosgov.

It still wasn't a good deal but **** deals happen when your owner is desperate to get out of the luxury tax.

Not really, Parsons' has two years left and didn't play as many games over the past two seasons that Howard played last year. Dwight still put up a double double last season while only missing one game and he is in the final year of his contract. Parson can't stay on the floor and when he does get on it he's been terrible but still has two seasons left.....very little "level" to it.

If another team wants to take on Parsons' contract and offer pick(s)+players that are better then Memphis should jump at it but I don't see any team stepping up to make that deal other than maybe Philly with 10+Saric/filler. Would they add another future first, they could since they have them but would they? Who knows although if they only have to beat the Knicks offer then 10/2nd+Saric/filler does it.

Jumping from 4-9 should cost more than that. We saw what jumping from 3 to 1 cost last year.

Oh, did the Celtics also dump a $50mil/2 year contract on a player who is injured all the time by moving down in that deal? No? Then that cost to swap picks isn't equated with a deal that does involve such a salary dump.

This is very significant for a small market team who is looking to reallocate their salary and maximize their playoff window before their vets get too old, it isn't nearly comparable to the pick swap you cited.

is mozgov the parsons-level contract above? in which case, he came with 2 seconds. wasn't moved for 2 seconds.

BKN moves a Parsons level deal for two seconds meaning it cost them two seconds.

And it def is. There are 4 of them - parson Deng Moz Noh

Mozgov has 2 years 32m left. Parsons has 2 years 50m left. The contracts are not comparable.

Doubtful, chances are he's close to his peak at his age. Mikel's problem is his inconstant shot and hitch, his slight frame as I don't think he'll get much stronger...very limited back to the basket game
