If we trade to 4 which order do you pick those two?

Whoever is left because there's no way both of them are still on the board. Honestly, that's a tough call. Doncic / Frank fit is a match made in heaven...but Bamba's potential, and his impact on what he can do now, is so alluring. Really really tough call. I'd probably lean to Doncic because of fit, but I don't think you can really go wrong with either one.

Frank/Doncic could have amazing off-the-ball synergies together. If they loved playing off of one another it would be almost impossible to stop them from getting off a clean shot between themselves or finding the open man. They would probably see over the heads of most people guarding them. They would present major match-up problems for the league.

Sounds like ATL may take him.

I go Doncic, then Bamba. Both look to be franchise players. The difference is one will carve you up and the other will shut you down.

I agree with your talent tiering.

I actually think Bamba isn't really a project in terms of what he can provide now. The project part is the offense, which I think is further along than people realize - he was not a good offensive player his senior year in HS, and now he's picking and popping / hitting spot up threes, albeit at a low %, at Texas. I know that opinion isn't a common one, but it's part of why I have him and Luka as my only tier 1 guys.

just a few days ago you said.....

For those who want Bonga, I spent about two hours watching film yesterday. He’s VERY raw. Like, major project (more than Giannis) raw.

Do you not understand that Bonga and Bamba are 2 different players?

I doubt something gets done but if the Knicks trade up for Bamba I feel like we could see a huge shakeup.

And yeah. I mean KP moving as well.

Ugh Bomba scares the heck out of me. I dont want a project whose floor is a really weak shooter and awkward offensive player.

Doncic or Porter.

He's 7' who came from being unable to shoot outside of 15 feet to hitting pick and pops and spot ups in college. That's an insane learning curve.

His floor is an elite rim finisher, elite defender, and great rebounder.

Interesting you don't like Bamba, but are ok with an inefficient jump shooting 4 who plays one side of the court.

I friggin LOVE Bamba. I've said it a few times, but I felt his presence and impact moreso than anyone else. Not some stats ish, just the player I watched in the NCAA who things just shifted when he got on the floor versus off of it. That said, I'm not sure about the fit with KP in a small ball league. It's the only thing I'm nervous about here and especially because KP will be returning from a knee injury. That said, the potential a defense with Frank in front of those two has if they did figure out that aspect...it's scary. Just don't trade Frank please.

My proposal from yesterday:

#4 + Parsons for Lee + LFT + #36 + 2019 1st Rounder Top 5 Protected

They shed $, get better, and get two picks they can flip or use. They'd probably ask for no protection on the 2019 pick, but we'd settle on somewhere in the 3-4 range of protection.

Grab Bamba at #4, Mikal at #9 and go to war....

Im one of the few who like KP at the 4 provided he starts running out to the perimeter. Does Bamba compliment KP in terms of rebounding and post skills ? will he do the things KP doesnt and visa versa ? and how far would we have to move up to get him and what will it cost ? Is he that much of an upgrade compared to whats possible at 9 ?
There's something about an underdog that really inspires the unexceptional.

The Knicks do not want Bamba.

Clearly, they have been talking to Memphis and are very confident they can move up if necessary. Obviously, the target is Doncic.

Meeting with Bamba is simply them doing last minute due diligence in the event that Doncic is not on the board, but they want to know if they should still consider moving up at that point.

It's due diligence, nothing more.

Also, Bamba is overrated. He processes the game slowly, is a slow leaper, and his shooting is grossly overrated just because of his size. No thanks.

As someone who is driven by data and measurables, all the logic and itemizing of value in who to trade for a top of the draft pick goes out the window if you believe (correctly) that one of these players is THE GUY.

If - IF - you're somehow right about that on an island (meaning the rest of the league doesn't value the player similarly) there's very little chance of an overpay despite the appearance of the deal at the time it happens.

Of course history is littered with GMs thinking they were trading for THE GUY and getting burned because the were unquestionably wrong.

My goodness imagine a core of Frank, KP, and Bamba.

Every team will be sh*tting themselves on offense.

Yep. Not that I'm expecting it, but I would not be in the least surprised if they trade KP.

NOW may be exactly the optimal time to do it too.

The only untouchable for me is Frank. He's the new Clyde. Don't touch my Clyde.

Nah. When the season began, I had Luka and Bags as the top two guys. Moved Bags down a bit for a few reasons (I do think he becomes a good switch guy and think the defensive issues are slightly overblown), and then it was Doncic by himself, then Ayton moved up to first tier, then he moved back down and Bamba came up.

I think I need to track my tiers on a word document for next year...and by next year, I mean starting FRIDAY.

Why would teams fear Bamba while they're attempting 3s? He does not have the agility to switch on the perimeter. He isn't a very good defender, he simply blocked shots by camping out in the paint in college because there is no 3 seconds rule. Similar to Thabeet.

Some of you guys are way too naive. Don't get so enamored with this idea of getting the #4 pick for trash like #9 #36 and Dotson. Without question the Grizz would ask for Frank, and if not they're moving onto the next deal. That pick is certainly a hot commodity that can fetch a pretty good deal.

To me it isn't worth it. I want to see Frank succeed HERE, and I truly believe that he will.

Now if for some reason they're willing to part with the pick without including KP / Frank, then BY ALL MEANS, let's ravage those idiots
