I want SGA but I'm having nightmares that Knox would be this years Mitchell.

SGA would be a decent role player, but doesn't have any upside for me. Tired of that draft philosophy. Knox screams Derrick Williams.

I'm a little frustrated with guys using Knox/Miles and saying they scream such and such tweener. First of all, Williams is completely different from Knox. If you watched Knox he didn't play inside at all, doesn't want to play inside, and is a 3 all the way. He's got a very smooth looking 3 pointer. He can handle the ball a little, he's a very finesse guy, probably more athletic than he looks; however he lacks real strength, and doesn't go strong to the hoop. And, while he has the tools to play defense, he hasn't shown the ability to play defense. I think he has the potential to be a very good wing in the NBA, that is going to take time to develop. His defense will never be good, but his offense will be at least above average, if not good. Tobias Harris is a better comparison, but Tobias was beefier coming out of Tennessee. I really see Knox as a 3 and only a 3 in the NBA. He has the body of a 3 and the skill set of a 3.

Williams was nothing like that. He had one good year shooting a limited amount of threes, played a lot of his game inside, scored a lot on put backs, and didn't have any ball handling skills. The problem with Williams is he was a 4 in a 3s body. And, to top it off, he actually wasn't very good at shooting the ball, and came in the NBA at a time when 4s were supposed to be able to shoot the ball. Miles Bridges on the other hand is interesting because he actually played both the 3 and 4 in college and put up identical numbers. I think he's going to make a better small ball 4 in the pros who will play the 3, and he's shown he can consistently shoot at a high percentage on 3s on a high # of attempts.

I meant Derrick Williams moreso in his work ethic and drive for the game. I don't see Knox excelling at the next level. He certainly doesn't have anywhere near the tenacity of Tobias Harris. More like the tenacity of Noah Vonleh.

I just really think Charlotte needs to draft someone that has some ferocity. Sexton, Mikal, Miles come to mind.

Ugg I hate the mindset of drafting players based off of their character. We have been drafting guys based off of character as opposed to actual skill for years now, and that has resulted in us reaching for a bunch of mediocre players. News flash everyone, it is easy for a lot of these kids to have a ferocious game and a high work ethic while in college as they are competing against kids who are future dentist/lawyers, and are still fighting for a future in the NBA. Once a lot of these kids with a high work ethic and ferocious game hit pros and realize how hard it is to compete against the super athletes in the NBA, they back down and become complacent as they realize that they can just play for pay checks and survive as a decent role player. The perfect example of this is our very own MKG. Go watch his Kentucky tapes, he looked like an absolute pit bull on the court then, and watch him now. He looks like a bored pug now. I'm tired of picking guys based on "their love of the game" or "they are an absolute alpha on the court". Can we finally start picking dudes with the potential to just light up the court?

Who is your gut telling you that will end up with? I think it's down to three players mikal, SGA, or Knox.

If they are falling then I'm guessing SGA is rising up the board. Yes on Young if MPJ is gone, go all in on MPJ if he's there or we will regret it long-term, IMO!

Who's starting the "Welcome to Charlotte - Theo Pinson," "Welcome to Charlotte - Robert Williams" and "Hornets trade 55th Pick for Cash Considerations" threads?

I dont want Trae. He is a bad fit with Monk and Kemba.

Young reminds me too much of DJ Augustin.

My heart is telling me SGA or Carter but my cynical brain is telling me Miles Bridges

Agree. I believe Young has skills and is a crazy good shooter, but he is NOT Curry. He is the player I fear falls and is too tempting to not pick (the kind of player MJ gets jazzed about and rolls the dice on).
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

I hate to say this but if we decided to trade Kemba this summer, we gotta take Young tomorrow if he's available. Without Kemba this team is nothing. Who is the face of this team (won't be Monk or Zeller lol)? How the hell would we sell any tickets with no Kemba? At the end of the day, every NBA franchise needs a face for their team. Young would be the only option in the draft that could hypothetically replace Kemba. Before anyone says it. Yes I know Kemba was much bigger than Young coming out of college, but still getting Young is better than nothing

Trae Young is not going to be Steph. But he won't be Seth either. He'll be good, not Super Duper Star, but good.

I would take him at 11 easy, but we have like the same dude in Monk. If Trae is there at 11, I do like a 11 + Marv to DEN for 14 and Faried. Get out from a year of Marv's deal, still end up with SGA or Lonnie Walker.
Who I woulda took:
2023: Miller | 2022: Duren | 2021: Bouknight, Jones | 2020: Ball | 2019: PJ | 2018: MPJ | 2017: Monk | 2016: Damian Jones | 2015: Winslow | 2014: Vonleh, Napier | 2013: McLemore | 2012: MKG | 2011: Knight, Kawhi

It’ll be Williams or Bridges. They suck. They’re perfect for us.

He and Williams just don’t move the needle for me and I don’t see genuine potential out of either player.

I hate Williams, love Miles. I'd never lump them together. Miles has a high floor and a ceiling of borderline all-star. After Kemba and Monk, we only need a #3.

It may sound like guys like me and you are beating a dead horse, but I really need someone to convince me why they think Miles is a lottery player. He is, at best, gonna be a 3&D guy but he isn't even great at shooting from 3. Also this team desperately needs playmakers outside of Kemba and unmotivated Batum. Miles can barely even dribble. I mean if you want Henderson 2.0, then I guess you got him in Miles.

in addition to the guy we'll take at 11, I'm a fan of Donte DiVincenzo, Jerome Robinson and Kevin Huerter in this draft, just don't see any pathway to them without a pick in the teens-30s
