If DJ Wilson was in this draft, I still wouldn't take him #17.

As was Brogdon (also NACB DPOY) and he's only been okay defensively in the NBA.

Thomas is Brogdon?

Brogdon is better than OK when not being asked to guard PGs. If Thomas is a Brogdon level player, then you take him without a second thought. I'd also be 100% in favor of Mitchell Robinson over Holiday and especially Wagner.

I think Thomas’ ceiling is Avery Bradley.

I have been cramming on this draft over the last week. I think my two choices at 17 are Huerter and Okobo. I want shooters!

That is also unjust. Musa is an 18 year old player. You're not going to take into account all HS stats from guys who played last season in college. And Musa is playing versus grown men. He's 35% from 3 and 76% from the line.

I actually have no opinion one way or the other on the guy but I believe I read that 31% is on 400-500 attempts. So no, it is in fact just. Same scrutiny i will give any prospect.

It's not just. Musa has been playing professionally (that means versus fully grown men) since he was 16 years old. If you want to be just, take his current year. Plenty to rip on him still. I don't see you using HS stats from players that have attended college.

Frankly I have already looked at guys like Huerter HS numbers and referenced them. I guess I could try to find other guys I like but given that Okobo has been playing professionally and Mitchell Robinson hasn’t been playing at all, I don’t have a lot of other guys I that interested in at 17.

I have no intelligent knowledge of who we should draft. However, I love the NBA draft night. I am excited!
I admit to being a terrible judge of talent and having minimal knowledge of the game of basketball.

Dame incoming...

Honestly the only other potentially "elite now or in the near future" that may be available PG's are Dame, Kemba, or Rozier.... Who am I missing?

Going to kindly ask you to take a chill pill.

LOL - note I said “potentially elite now or in the near future” I don’t think Rozier is going to be the next Kyrie, but dude can ball. He will be an above average PG in the league with a chance to become elite when given the chance...

So it looks like Robinson is probably falling to the second round after a pretty poor pre-draft showing?

We should definitely try and get a second rounder to see if we can snag him. Or trade back further into the late first.

We will need 17 to send to Charlotte as part of our Kemba trade package.

Fans. Media.

When you're an NBA GM you have basically landed the dream job of every middle aged male in the western world. The main concern is to NOT LOSE THAT JOB at any cost, everything else is secondary, including your team.

Risk of losing job if you pick Doncic 1st and he busts: high.
Risk of losing job if you pick Ayton 1st and he busts: low.

As simple as that really.

It seems like fans and the media love this guy, they are calling him baby LeBron and a generational type player. It seem like its the establishment, gms, that seem to disagree.

If we keep the pick, I want Huerter. Quick release. Confident. Creates own shots. Ok defender. Yes please.

Something tells me though that we are going to use the pick in some sort of trade.

I don't know man... we are basketball maniacs, we live in an online microbubble with others of our kind and we judge based on that, but the thing is, not everybody is like that. Casual fans are not like us. Following Euros and knowing stuff about them is a basketball connoisseur thing :D

Pelton has Musa 8th overall in his projections. Mike Schmitz listed Musa as his biggest sleeper in the 1st round. Nate and Danny had very favorable Musa scouting reports on their podcast today. Educate yourselves.

He's been talked about on this board for a month, at least.

I have a hard time buying Doncic simply for the fact that he's accepted by the Euro basketball community. Kinda like how you can't trust a cornfed that is accepted by the midwest contingent.
