Shoot. If Atlanta’s set on moving back for Trae, Orlando can block our move-up trade by insisting they’ll take Trae at 6.

Yea if Sac sticks with Bagley, I can more realistically see and ATL-DALLAS swap. Dallas gets Doncic at #3, and ATL gets trae at #5 + an extra goodie from Dallas

We’d have to throw in two extra goodies (22 + protected 2019) and dare Dallas to match.

I feel like this is turning into MPJ possibly being a consolation prize at #7... that's not awful.

I wouldn't do 3 for 7 and 22 for Bamba. Nope. Too many question marks on his offensive game.

Doncic, man.....that's tough. Probably, but with one eye closed. If I knew more about Doncic maybe I'd feel better. I just don't feel comfortable with YouTube scouting alone.

I wouldnt include Portis in either scenario.

Wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. Having 3 floor spacing bigs would help out a ton on offense, plus both Carter and Hutch promise to be good to very good defenders, something we are in sore need of.

They wouldn't be sexy picks at all but they wouldn't be bad picks by any means. I just think if those are the picks then you are banking REAL hard on Dunn, Lavine, and Markkanen to become stars or expecting to be players in free agency.

If Atlanta is set on trading down for Trae, then it's impossible for us to be a trade partner, because we can't guarantee them Trae. Only DAL can do that.

We need to be focusing on getting 4 for either JJJ or Bamba. As I said earlier, 7 and Portis for 4 and Parsons makes sense because, if the Bulls keep Portis, they are going to have pay him anyway.

I'm fine with #7 & #22. I don't expect a deal because there's been so many deadline's and drafts where we've done nothing at all.

So since Porter probably falls to #7, I'm good with that.

Yeah agreed with BK, if ATL wants Young, then there is no way we'll trade with them unless we're completely overpaying. We're still not in position where we should hand out unprotected picks.

Then waive/stretch Parsons so his contract is 10 M over 5 years.

Portis will likely get a 4/40 contract next summer anyway. So the cap hit from Portis will essentially be the same as Parsons' stretched contract, starting next year. And the extra 8 M cap hit this year is basically irrelevant.

So the net substance of the trade is 7 and Portis for 4, without any real salary cap implications. This is a small price to pay for the opportunity to move up from 7 (where our options are undesireable) to 4 (where we will likely get to choose from Bamba and JJJ).

Makes way more sense to pay Parsons this year and stretch next year. Who is the big free agent we would want this summer?

Just keep talking to Memphis for #4, and try to get a deal that doesn't involve Parsons contract.

We’d have to stack our offer to an extent where Atlanta is willing to risk losing Trae.

Also, if the offers for Luka get rich enough, I gotta imagine Sacramento would heavily consider taking him at so negotiations have to go through them. And maybe they’re an easier trade partner than Atlanta if they’re interested in Porter, who may be more likely to slip to 7?

I dunno. Just spitballing.

Well, they can't absolutely do that. But someone taking Trae at 4 seems a very low risk, whether MEM keeps the pick or not. So DAL at 5 seems like a very likely place for Trae to still be available.

On the other hand, ORL at 6 is a natural place for Trae to be taken. We certainly do not have a convincing argument to make to ATL that we can get Trae for them.

To me Luka is a fantastic outcome and MPJ isn’t a good one, so I’m rooting for the Bulls to pony up to get 3 (if that’s even possible).
