Re: 2018 NBA Draft Talk
DX really turned into garbage. I don't enjoy their videos anymore and get zero insight about the prospect. I already know everything they provide.
It's a shame because I loved everything about their videos; presentation, music and the data. Now it's so bland.

Red Flags: Bad Back and Insane in the Membrane
I was never sold on Michael Porter, Jr. even before his back injury due to his inefficient volume shooting, plus, there are concerns of him adjusting to playing well if he's not the top option. Dude doesn't even have as high a level of basketball instincts as his brother, Jontay, who went back to school.
I previously advocated taking a chance on him as a "swing for the fences" play, but he's nowhere near worth giving up 2 lottery picks for, especially with him acting like Carmelo Anthony in his approach to the game, sharing the same irrational/delusional sense of self as Austin Rivers, and dealing with a back injury reminiscent of T.J. Ford's injury.

Re: 2018 NBA Draft Talk
Latest DraftExpress mock draft (updated less than an hour ago) has us taking Shai and Lonnie:
Their intel from who teams want to pick has been impeccable since they teamed with Woj, last year they nailed the top 10 a day before the draft.
12. LA Clippers (via Pistons)
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander
Kentucky
Age: 19.8
PG/SG
Height: 6-6 | Weight: 171
The Clippers could be looking at point guard as a position in need of supplementing, and the size, length and versatility of Gilgeous-Alexander could be attractive here considering the type of lineup flexibility he brings.
The fact that he is 6-6 (with a 7-foot wingspan), instinctual defensively and unselfish makes him easy to slot in alongside virtually any type of player. His offense has made significant strides as the season has moved on, helping him surprisingly emerge as arguably Kentucky's best long-term prospect.
Starting salary: $3,179,280
13. LA Clippers
Lonnie Walker IV
Miami
Age: 19.4
SG
Height: 6-4 | Weight: 206
Walker didn't have a consistent or efficient freshman season, but his talent, combined with the lack of depth at his position, is keeping his name in the lottery conversation. His youth, strong frame, 6-10½ wingspan and ability to shoot with his feet set or off the dribble make him a candidate to rise during the pre-draft process as teams search for upside and diamonds in the rough.
The Clippers' wing rotation is a major work in progress and could certainly use some more shooting, length and perimeter-defensive prowess.
Starting salary: $3,020,280

Shai and Lonnie? Bleh. Both guys have a pretty big variance of outcomes, mainly Lonnie. Shai at least fits the positionless mold
Plus, why would I want to go to the NBA? Duke players suck in the pros.

Re: 2018 NBA Draft Talk
ESPN latest mock is loaded with Woj intel and I feel that ruined their mock. There's no way the Clippers take two scoring guards who play no defense at all. (They updated it again at 8 am with Young and Robinson again)
If the Clippers win the championship next year I'm getting banned from RealGM

If those are our picks, we'll know that Doc still has way too much input into our personnel decisions.

If the team takes Robinson or Williams, it also shows the front office is very easy to read by other executives and the media. They aren't only reaches for guys the teams above them aren't seriously considering but telegraphed well ahead.

Re: 2018 NBA Draft Talk
I would love a way to pick Doncic without overpaying. If we can't;
I would like us to pick Lonnie Walker and one of the PGs that are available, either Sexton or Alexander.

Re: 2018 NBA Draft Talk
I'm praying we trade up. Don't let Doc/Frank waste our picks on more low-upside, no-defense guards.
And sorry, but I really don't see Jerry telling the media all about his favorite prospects before the draft. This seems like the front office trying to sell the fanbase on an uninspiring reach of a pick by attaching Jerry's name to it.

If it's true, Jerry is slipping.
He didn't make his career letting his motives known days before the draft.

I'm not buying it. Robinson is not a Jerry West type of player.

I would have the most confidence in the front office if whatever move they make would be one totally unreported or speculated by the media.

Re: 2018 NBA Draft Talk
It seems like our front office is telling every reporter something different from Jerome Robinson, to liking all three top point guard prospects, to moving down/up, etc.

Re: 2018 NBA Draft Talk
I wonder if we could do a trade with Philly. #12 & #13 + Lou Williams for #10 + #26 + Markelle Fultz
Return to Los Angeles Clippers
