I do think we can take on Parsons contract to get that 4th pick, but it would be tough to part with the 9th pick to do so. If that was the sweetener, a future pick would to come our way. Not too many teams would do it, that parsons contract is a cap killer.

The #9 pick is guaranteed to be in any deal, even taking Parsons back. The question then becomes do the Knicks have to give up a 2019 pick (protected) as well?

Who is giving them a top ten pick and taking back that contract? Who? So why bid against yourself?

I don't think there is more than one other team who would take that contract and then do they have a top ten pick to swap? The Knicks might be poised to get the pick swap deal because they are 'stupid' enough to take on that money and it's the best offer Griz will get for it.

Mavs one of seven teams talking to Grizzlies about trade for No. 4 pick, Chandler Parsons

http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/23858201/memphis-grizzlies-discuss-trading-no-4-pick-nba-draft

Dallas Mavericks, Orlando Magic, Chicago Bulls, New York Knicks, Denver Nuggets, Boston Celtics and LA Clippers have shown varying degrees of interest in a deal

Memphis might be able to trade back to No. 6 (owned by Orlando) or No. 7 (owned by Chicago) on draft night.

nah I don't think so. 4 + parsons

for

#9 + lee + lance + x

or

#9 + timmy + burke + x

is the framework. depends on what the grizz are looking for. either get off as much salary as possible or get as good as possible with the trade. the question mark obv is the asset the knicks have to add.

They've explicitly stated that they are looking to trade down, not out of the draft. CHI, ORL, DAL all can beat whatever it is we're offering.

I see us staying put at 9 & 36. Y'all just have to accept reality instead of coming up with these ridiculous trade scenarios.

Why Grizzlies would take either Lee + Lance or Timmy if whole point of them trading that pick is to open up cap space? I think that we're looking to unload them, so we can absorb Parsons straight away.

Em, if the plan is to free capspace to sign some one like Lee, then its plausible.

I was talking to my dad (who doesn't really understand basketball) yesterday, and I brought up the point that it's kinda weird that staying in school is seen as a negative for basketball players

I kinda get it if it's a situation like Miles Bridges, who came back for another year but didn't really improve that much, but in the case of Mikal, a guy who has markedly improved every single year, I don't understand

Like, I get the whole "potential" argument, I'm on team Frank after all, but we shouldn't dismiss a player that's proven to grow like Mikal. It's like having someone else develop Frank for 3 years before we draft him, just cause he's older doesn't mean his potential has gone down, it means we have less work to do developing him

I don't know, I just really like Mikal at 9 and I think he has a higher ceiling on offense than some of y'all give him credit for, and is an excellent defender to boot

I'd say the goal for Memphis isn't really to free up cap space to sign players, I think they want to convert Parson's salary into players that can actually play on the court (even if they're not really that good), and get low enough below the cap so that they don't get into the tax re-signing Tyreke Evans
