Knicks can offer better players than the Suns or Nuggets or Bulls? No way.
Edge Suns, Bulls and Nuggets on young talent
I'd assume the Suns aren't looked to add the 4th pick to the 1st
Edge Bulls in space
I'd say edge Bulls overall
I don't think the Nuggets are really that interested, the report of them wanting to trade 14 to get rid of Faried means to me they'd rather have cap space than picks
The Suns and Bulls might have better young talent, but I don't think they're that much better of trade partners for Memphis than us
Suns are probably out of the picture, as the Grizzlies are looking to trade back, but not all the way out of the lotto like the Suns 2nd 1st rounder, and 1 is off the table. In terms of players, they don't really have much there either. TJ Warren and Alex Len are decent, but both are due extensions this year, Booker and Jackson are off the table, and it doesn't make sense for the Grizzlies to acquire Chandler, and all their other players suck
Bulls are definitely in play, but they're really high on Carter Jr and Porter Jr, one of whom will most definitely be there at 7, so they don't really have a huge incentive to move up. They can definitely offer better vets and LaVine is a better prospect than anything we're offering, so if they wanted to, they could definitely outbid us. Really just depends on who the Bulls want and how the draft shakes out
I'd rather the Knicks trade with the Hawks to ensure Donic (assuming he doesn't go #2) but I don't see the Knicks as trade partners in terms of offering salary relief. The Hawks would just have to like the concept of turning #3 into # 9 and a 2019 unprotected 1st, I'd think. Or like 1-3 protected. In fact, it would probably take #9, #36, and a future 1st.
I'm not paying close enough attention, but it seems like the Knicks would have to send about the same amount of salary the Hawks are looking to dump. Oh, and I'd take Bazemore on in a minute. But only for #3, and honestly, I'd assume the Hawks are dangling Bazemore for #19 or #20
Yeah, it's looking like if we want Doncic, we'd have to get to 3
I don't think we're good trade partners with the Hawks though, unless we're giving them KP
Unlike Memphis, they're just starting their rebuild, so young players interest them more than salary relief. Even then, the only trade I found that would give them relief is Lee, LFT, Mudiay, Dotson, and Burke for Plumlee and Bazemore, which would save them 6 million this year, and 17 million next year, or give them Tim (who they definitely don't want but it'd be funny). Not worth it for them.
And I'm not a fan of unprotected picks, and I think we're gonna be bad next year, but not bottom 3 bad, so I'd want at least top 10 protection on that pick, and still I don't think Atlanta goes for it
