I'm fine that we took Monk, because at the time it was a solid pick. We were all very happy to have him. That being said, I find it hard to believe that so many people on this board think the only difference between the two players is that Mitchell received more playing time early. Mitchell is going to be a star. Monk might end up being a good player.
My real issue with all of this is the fact that our war room seems to be a complete joke on draft night. Too many voices too many people trying to have input and maybe the wrong people having him put. The rumor we had heard before was that since cho gave Clifford Howard that it would be his turn to select his guy in Monk... Unless it was Jordan who is the guy who made that pick or one of Jordan's relatives... Or Curtis Polk or somebody else who shouldn't be having that much say on draft night.

That being said, for a guy in Clifford who constantly talked about how he doesn't get involved in draft decisions, he sure does seem to have a lot of things to say about this past draft where he supposedly was begging for Mitchell.

Re: Givony and Lowe on Hornets Draft
clifford would've had donovan playing the 3, if at all lol
if anything this only makes him look petty for nailing monk to the bench because he wasn't 'his guy'
on top of that, this hindsight is CRAZY lol

I'm sorry, but this is a ridiculous statement to make one year into their respective careers. As many have said, Monk was the better prospect coming out. Mitchell did not perform all that well in college, no one could have anticipated him breaking out like he did. Not to mention the complete green light he had in Utah to pretty much do what he wanted. You don't think Monk could have put up some 40 point games if he was given the minutes and not nailed to the bench when he did something stupid? Add to that the fact Monk is almost 2 years younger and he will get that extra seasoning in an NBA training facility (technically!) as opposed to a college one.
I am in no way upset about the Monk pick and still think it was the correct decision at the time....there is a lot to complain about with this team but that aint it. As others have said, the Jordan stories are a little scary, but the fact is the team is TRYING to give itself the best chance to succeed, all I can do is sit here and try and enjoy the ride

Re: Givony and Lowe on Hornets Draft
Mitchell said on the JJ Redick's podcast that he would have loved to play for MJ's team and pick his brain. He also said he expected to get picked by the Hornets. Said he thought it was all but a done deal.
