What can Russel + #29 get for the Nets?

Post#1 » by Prokorov » Wed Jun 20, 2018 8:18 pm

What pick could Russell + 29 get in this draft?

Bulls #22?

Atlanta #19?

Bucks #17?

Clipeprs #12 or #13?

A move would get the nets a better pick and clear 21 million in cap room for next offseason (bringing the total to 60-65 million)

Bucks at 17 seems as high as it could get you to me.

The issue that is Dangelo Russell's season didn't make any teams go "we need this guy!", due to both injury and really poor efficiency. Assuming ATL, for example, have a player at #19 that they like, they are not going to forgo it to acquire Russell. They'd only do it if all of their targets are gone, so this is a bit unlikely.

??? D'Angelo doesn't have any guaranteed salary for 2019/20. He has a QO that is completely discretionary.

Atlanta. I think Brogdon is better than Russel.

His cap hold is $21 million.

I think Brogdon and Russel would actually be a really nice pairing.

Russel-Brogdon-Middleton-Giannis-Henson is an interesting lineup. Better if they can swap Parker for a good center (Favors comes to mind immediately).

You can renounce it. Trading him isn't necessary. OP says trade would 'clear 21 million in cap room for next offseason'.

it would clear the cap hold.

getting a draft pick for him > renouncing him is the mindset

How about what could Russell, RHJ + $6m in cap get us of picks/future picks/rookie deal contracts + expiring contracts?
I think we could take back up $15.5m or so in that scenario.

Goal would be

Dinwiddie ($1.6m cap hold)
LeVert ($2.6m)
Crabbe ($18.5)
Allen ($2.4)
Result of this trade
#29 (~$2m)
#40 (~$1m)
'19 #1 (~$5m)
D.Wont ($5.5m)
+
$68m in cap space - what we get here

Cap holds can simply be renounced. You don't need to dump them.

Repeat after me...The Nets are NOT trading Russell.

Wouldn't consider 12 or 13 for that package. You'd need to add in RHJ, and then some.

Bucks would be an interesting target, as maybe would be Phoenix.

Phoenix for sure would be interested unless they can get into the top-10 and snag a PG.

I would just keep Russell. His value is really low right now and I don't see him losing that much more if they hold onto him. It's better to hope that he can raise his value in the first half of the season.

getting a pick > getting nothing

trading him is better then renouncing him if we can get a good pick

A mid-first is not a good enough pick. They're better off dumping Crabbe, signing 2 big FAs & resign Russell.

Russell has very little value imo. Inefficient chucker for 3rd straight season, god awful defender. Not sure why they traded for him.
