Avery Johnson on coaching Vs Trae Young said "not the best physical or athleticism,... but this shot ! we had to guard him from where he got out of the bus"

With a running mate in huertas spacing the floor and moving without the ball, he can be even better.

He doesn't need too. I see him closer to a microwave, 6th man with potential to be more.

Mitchell Robinson at 30 would be a solid draft.

Hawks gunning to be the worst defensive team in the NBA next year.

The excitement died down in here after the Luka trade. I get it, we'll remember this night for a long time.

FWIW, I think Huertas could be a decent defender. Spellman has some ability as a weakside blocker. If Lloyd can get these guys to play as unit on the defensive side, we might not be that bad.

The board was really alive leading up to that moment. Lol

Wondering how many are down a fifth right now?!

So far I’m more upset about not moving Dennis.

Based on Schlenk saying they're taking best available player and we're keeping the pick unless its a great return, Koonin saying we're going to be agressive, Schlenk saying 'I don't have a problem having 4 rookies on the roster' yet trading #34 for future picks. The rumors about wanting to trade #3 and Baze for #5 and Wes Matthews, the rumor of #19 and Baze for #23.

Schkenk just does not come across as an effective negotiator - he gets a big fat F from me.

The players themselves - B on offense, D on defense.

Say one thing, Trae alone guarantees like 3 ESPN games and it will be nice having a guy in the running for ROY.

Young was the guy all this time.
It's not the NFL where draft pick compensation is much higher.
Dallas is going to suck again next year and the pick will be a lottery. What is the protection?

Protected 1-5 for like 5 years.
Dallas may not be great but they won't be intentionally tanking and they plan to be FA players with $40 mill in capspace.

Perfect situation for us as long as Young works out. Cuban had to do this. Makes sense money wise for him and we got out guy. I trust our management and ownership now.

... a really long time. Tons of options on the table in a strong draft, yet Schlenk seems to think a 2019 protected pick (probably 10-14 in a much weaker draft) makes up the gap for a highly valued player in Doncic. After all the rumors and having all that cap space to get additional assets, Schlenk does NOTHING! Awful! Schlenk gets an F for asset management.

As for the draft, seems like we swung for the fences when all we had to do was “NOT GET CUTE”. Out of top 10, Young is most likely to bust, Huerter broke his shooting hand before the draft, and Spellman has been compared to Adreian Payne. Grade: C-.

We all could’ve lived with Doncic failing. Now if Young busts and Doncic even hits his floor, this draft will go in the books with Marvin and Sheldon. Now only time will tell.

Schlenk should now be on a very short leash and in the hot seat with the organization. This was a rough night to be a Hawk fan.

The way I see it...Schlenk was too laser focused on recreating GSW light....this is what he said at his introductory press conference.. "
the goal is to find another Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green"....he tried doing just that in this draft.
Just doesn't feel right.
Time will tell and I really hope I'm dead wrong.
