Doncic was my #1 for sure but I really, really like Ayton too (#2 on my list). This guy is gonna remind us of Amare while also bringing something new to the floor. We're gonna have a very exciting group of guys with talent and potential coming into next season.

The key will be defense. Ayton has the ability and skill set to be one of the best players in the league, but he won't touch that ceiling if he doesn't turn that defensive potential into impact. I'm a believer. He obviously needs more work, but I think Sean Miller prepared him well for the perimeter-oriented league by sticking him at the 4 spot.

Yeah Ayton did mention he spent a lot of time guarding guys on the perimeter when he was on ESPN. I think that will serve him well. As far as post defense and help defense though I'm strapping him to a chair and forcing him to footage of Boston & Al Horford specifically. Force him to watch Al Horford for a few months. Not Gobert, not Capela, but Al Horford.

The obvious concern is improving his defense, but I'm more optimistic than most. He's not a complete liability, and he has the potential to improve on his weaknesses. You guys have surely looked in to him enough already, I don't need to tell you much. Exciting times. Cya Alex Len.

That's a good interview.

Ayton needs to be shown these tweets so he can get added motivation to take defense seriously! It's scary if he became an even above average rim protector because he would be such a complete player if the offense/rebounding hold up!

Can Deandre turn into a Hakeem Olajuwon type player or is that a long reach?

Meh pick. Should have traded the pick for Lonzo Ball and draft the other Ball with the 16th pick. Of course McD couldn't have done this without a pair of Balls.

Seriously super happy with the pick. I've been calling Ayton's name for most of the season. And for all those naysayers, you're on my "not a believer" list for now. I'll have a frozen plate of crow waiting for you to eat in the freezer.
