It isn't the direction I'd choose. That said, for a team looking to improve while having it's hands tied, this draft does that; slightly. Expect to see us do a replay of last year without Dwight. Should be a 45 win season. Not great ceiling though. We're talking pelicans of the east.

C-Just meh. This is the same feeling I had in 2013 and 2015. We went with the safe pick. Its the Charlotte way

Grade our draft

Post#4 » by TheKingofSting » Fri Jun 22, 2018 4:22 am

Miles and D. Graham are both an A+ for value. Hard to tell on the stash still though he doesn't bring down our first two picks and is worth a shot in the dark, we actually finally kept (and added) second round pick(s) this draft. I don't want to over exaggerate so I give our overall draft an A-.

Solid F. If we weren't already at the bottom I'd say it set us back, but there's hardly a way to move any further back.

Bridges only brings an entertaining Twitter game to supplement his Anthony Bennett status
Graham could be an intriguing 13th man, it's cool that he's from Raleigh though.
Diallo was a good pick, fortunately the Hornets realized that and traded him away to give him a better shot at success
Kulboka will never play in the NBA.

Overall, one of the worst drafts in franchise history. Mitch has quietly put together a terrible offseason that sets us up for even more impressive failure in both the short- and long-term future.

Looking back I may need to bump it up to F+. We made two good picks. We just instantly traded them for diarrhea.

Mitch has done an impressively bad job so far. I wasn't expecting him to knock it out of the park but jesus christ

This was a truly awful draft for us. Mitch is 0-for-2 now and serving to only make us worse with each passing day. He has filled Cho's shoes admirably and quite possibly is a worse GM.

I already regret giving the guy a chance, but because of muh Tar Heals, he was always coming here.

As soon as I saw the one "F" grade, I knew who it was. Robot.....I don't know what to tell ya bro, but you were that depressed guy at the end of the bar bringing the room down all night.... Haha.

Miles Bridges was one of the five guys in play for us at 11 and we got him, plus added a couple of 2nd rounders for moving back one spot. How can that be a bad thing?

I would've preferred Melton, but not mad about Graham. Am kinda disappointed in the trade with OKC, but not enough to poo poo on our draft. Anyone drafted in the 50s is a shot in the dark at best, so whatever happens with our Euro stash guy, I could care less. Would've preferred the Greek Freak's brother, but I heard that he's super raw, so whatever.

I was between a B and a C, so a high C for me. Average picks but solid on paper. Trades were good not great.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Honestly I cannot blame Robot for being such a downer. The Hornets are in basketball hell, and we have been for years. Its kinda sad that the good ole days for us was a season that ended in getting bounced in 7 in the first round of the playoffs by a team led by old man Wade. Im shocked there aren't more Hornets fans like him. There are fans whose teams are in much better situations that are more outraged then us. Like have you seen Knicks fans? They make it seem like they are on a hella treadmill, but they have Porzingius and a great free agent market. What do we have? A 28 year old Kemba who may be gone soon? I can't think of a team in a worse spot then we are in right now, can maybe think of 2 or 3 in as bad a spot.

Graham isn’t a bad pick, just disappointed we traded two future seconds for him. They’ll regret not taking Khyri Thomas with that pick. He’s a top 20-25 talent. I also would have taken Kostas over our draft and stash.

As for Miles, not disappointed. He’s who I wanted last year. I think he’ll be a solid rotational player. I won’t judge passing on MPJ. I don’t know what the medicals said.

Overall, I’ll give it a B-/B rating. Underwhelmed by execution in the second, especially with there being players I do believe will have an 8-10 year career contributing on the floor.

I think it was a F grade.

Graham was not worth 2 second rounders and we should have traded back or if we were going to take the best available or at least grabbed zhaire with pick number one, and YuTa, MeTu, Newman, Martin, Vanja, Vince Edwards, Hands or Spalding with pick number 2. I think that MeTu will turn out better than miles. I am actually picking MeTu as a front runner for R.O.Y..

Right before the draft I norrowed pick numer 1 to YuTa, and Zhaire. I would have taken either YuTa and MeTu, or Zhaire and YuTa with the 2nd round pick depending on who I would have grabbed between YuTa and Zhaire with the first pick. But I had eliminated Miles and Graham with what was left on the board prior to their selections.

Miles is going to be Michael Beasley 2.0. and graham has great heart and a warriors mindset but is not a great penetrator. I think he will have a slightly better career in Charlotte than Miles will tho. Arnoldas Kulboka is decent but I would have rather taken Vanja as an international project but I do like Arnoldas as well and had him as my second rated international prospect behind Vanja so he might not be too bad

A+

We kept Kemba and drafted MKG's replacement. Somebody paid attention.

I'm giving it a B+.

I feel as though whoever we pick at #11 (or #12) would be deemed by some as a "failed pick" because there's not a lot of appealing choices in that range.

I gave it a B. Would have been an A, as Miles was my guy, but Porter was still on the table when we picked Miles.

Miles is still great with an upside around Marion, but Porter could become a superstar if he stays healthy.
