I think we gotta get a vet this summer. Someone who can teach defense and how to be a pro but also get these kids' backs.

The Knicks have one and now with a coach who isn't a tool he will be in the mix again so be the type of guy who can mentor on the defensive side of the ball.

I'd add Noah to that mix if he is not eliminated via buy-out, trade or stretch. Maybe he'd be able to come back as a mentor if we gave him 15 minutes of playing time which I think can fit into the rebuild/development agenda. I don't think we could expect him to be an expensive coach if he doesn't play at all though so it would require a little bit of compromise.

Reading through it, he really couldn't handle some Twitter trolls and I think this was partially a reason why he never went to school. He kept tweeting about people not "leaving him alone". His mental stability is going to be one huge red flag - probably his biggest.

I wanted to mention the bolded before. It is an important point, do not confuse stupidity with social awkwardness or the like. Stupid people, don't study CS. (Maybe, sometimes) Shy, smart, intelligent, introverted, withdrawn people do.

I am really excited about having this type of mindset (shy, innocent, simple) on the team. I think he will bring a different angle here. The guy has LOADS of talent.

Really, to think we got him at #36, got a great shooter in Trier on a 2 way contract and got the youngest or 2nd youngest guy with HIGH upside at #9 in the draft - I have not been this excited about a draft in a while.

Not trying to hate on the kid but sometimes the difference is between the ears. I mean he was a top recruit in the conversation with Bamba, Ayton, Carter, Bagley but he made poor decisions

The teams ahead of us made poor decisions by not picking him. This kid has raw talent. Someone mentioned Amare...this kid is a freak athlete, that is agile, can handle the rock, shotblocker, AND has a jumper ...with range? Team passed on Amare because of his "checked past"...they passed on this kid because he's a little eccentric...our gain.

I like the way he loves to run up and down the court. He seems to like blocking shots (ayton wasnt much of a shot blocker). I like that he is good at catching lobs and has good hands (something I beleive is very difficult to teach/improve). He is a secound rounder. I'm ok with this pick. Its not we used a mid first on him.

Love the swing for the fences pick, he has a huge upside imo. Didn't think he would make it to the second round.
I would let him work down in the d-league his rookie year, help him mature on and off the court at his own pace.

I’m sure Berman or some crap will dig into it and tell us why soon. And I bet it partially has to do with him in social settings.

Either way, it’s still a good low risk, high reward pick and I fully support it. This is the type of move a team that isn’t winning any time soon should be making in the 2nd round.

This is less about the media and more about the spotlight of the NBA in general.

I was in a Kentucky forum and they were discussing this kid. Some ‘insider’ guy said this kid wasn’t liked by his teammates and coaches. He apparently got homesick early on in his stay there and stopped caring. He stopped coming to practices and refused to leave his dorm room. The team even suspended him for conduct detrimental to the team before he left the program altogether.

This lends credence to the reason that he didn’t go to college at all is because his heart wasn’t in it and he didn’t want to be away from home. I wonder how him being in NY and in the road like 7-8 months out of the year is going to affect him and his fragile personality. Will be interesting to see if he can change.

Alan Hahn said that Noah was making the young guys go to the club with him last year. Said he was a bad influence.
