Seriously? I don't think it sounds very fair to fire someone over whatever his political leanings are. I actually really like him on TNT.

Why the **** should he be fired for supporting the political candidate of his choice? That is beyond ridiculous.

Everyone talks about the Golden State model, but look at some of the young bigs in this league now - Collins, Williams, Carter Jr., Tristan Thompson, Jokic, Drummond, Capela, Turner, Sabonis, Randle, Jaren Jackson Jr., Towns, Porzingis, AD, Bamba, Nurkic, Embiid, Ayton, Chriss, Bender, Bagley, Giles, Gobert.. The most depth and upside collectively that we’ve seen in years.

Rooting for George to stay in OKC and Kawhi in San Antonio, at least for another season in Kawhi's case. Would love to see LeBron stuck in no mans land.

I've been a Kevin McHale fan for over 35 years. That just ended. Anybody who still supports Trump at this point is a traitor to the United States and to the human race, no matter how strongly they feel about gun rights (McHale is apparently an avid hunter) or whatever.

However, I'm also a First Amendment extremist, and believe his right to peaceful assembly should not be infringed, as long as he keeps it out of his actual public commentary. The gray area for me would be if he came down on the opposite side of Kerr/Popovich/Lebron/et al.

I just hope that Ainge, who is obviously a conservative Republican, doesn't himself take it to a Trump-supporting extreme.

He's a Nazi supporter. I hope he's just a mild and mindless one, and later gets over it.

You lost me at Tristan Thompson. :)

Seriously, Al Horford plays perfectly in a "positionless" system. He's an good perimeter player on offense and defense alike, with his length more than compensating for deficiencies in more traditional perimeter attributes. That's the ideal kind of big to have.

These Trump folks are despicable but anyone calling for punishment to McHale for his political choices is worse.

My sentiment, I detest Trump. But, I also manage over 400 employees and if I fired one Trump supporter for that reason, my company would be sued within a week. Let's be real here.

Actually, the Trump folks are so despicable that I disagree with your rating scale. Indeed, they're worse just on First Amendment kinds of rights alone.

I don't like him either but calling for him to lose his job or for Hayward to do the same because he follows Fox News on Twitter or his wife donated to Trump or whatever is crazy. We're talking about people who are multi millionaires and billionaires. I'm not naive enough to believe that the majority of people in power in pro sports aren't Trump supporters. It will be interesting to see if the Gordon stuff picks up more steam.

Absent some kind of special case equating partners to each other, we certainly shouldn't condemn folks for their spouses' political views. The most famous sports example in Boston is probably Brady/Bundchen, who have made it pretty clear they disagree about Trump, and are each staying relatively quiet about their views.

Now, if a guy and his homemaker wife each donate the max to somebody's campaign, it's pretty clear what happened. And the Mrs. McHale tweets above were pretty egregious; it's hard to imagine that Mr. McHale doesn't sympathize with them given that he didn't, in fact, publicly contradict her. But I can still appreciate their sports contributions, as long as they keep their noxious political stances relatively low-key, rather than leveraging their professional reputations to promote them.

E.g., I'm negative now on Bill Belichick, Rob Gronkowski and Matt Light, but not on other Patriots who may or may not be Trump voters or donors.

I'm happy that that comment came from a guy insisted on posting false basketball information over the past week, even when every relevant site on the internet debunked it clearly. That makes your most recent spewings easier to shrug off.

In all of this absurdity, I must ask: you genuinely like the guy's broadcast work?

Because he's awful. He defines milquetoast, paint by numbers vanilla commentary. Dude is like the cold oatmeal of the commentary world. At least you can insult and laugh at terrible people like Reggie Miller.
