He could be our DeAndre Jordan. I like this pick. Worth the risk.

I think this is a classic "good red flag" .
The bad "red flag" that teams will take a flyer on is a player who is a bit of a d*ck (or worse) maybe from really sketchy background - not the end of the world - but maybe there being no one in his orbit who has ever reigned them in, etc , so low level of changing personality etc, but teams take the player anyway because "that talent!"
The good red flag is, I think he got flagged as a little "flaky" going to a non powerhouse school, to be assistant coached by his godfather (not really a problem) but then leaves after godfather is fired. I think the kid is justified. Team broke a promise. Now, in terms of how the basketball complex sees things, he "didn't honor his commitment to the school" and was "unconventional" in taking time off, giving a symbolic middle finger to the NCAA.
To me, I think it's catching a bad rap for not playing "the game", but not for having a gang/drug/really broken family etc background.
I think this is a case where the Knicks had an open mind and benefit from the general myopic attitude.

Ntilikina would still be one of the younger players in this year's draft...

Not a fan of this pick personally, but no harm in seeing if he has any real potential and building him from ground up. Anyone who thinks he'll get a minute of real playing time this year is delusional.
My impression as well, I like the pick as we need to swing for the fences, hopefully it turns into something. But I envision him spending most his time in the G-League this season
I think he definitely should spend some time in g league but Knicks are a bad team so don't see why he can't get half an NBA season in also.

100% agreed. I'm not worried about that "red flag" at all.
Upon seeing him speak, it seems that articulation (not intelligence) is an issue for him. The only concern I have is him kind of getting swallowed up by the pressure of it. He just seems so socially shy and has a hard time expressing himself fully. The org needs to be sensitive/understanding of that. Advice on how to handle it is above my pay grade.

I think Shai will be a good player but I'll full well admit I may end up regretting moving up. He was my target at 15.

Our summer league team could have 3 of our 5 starters in it. At least for a good part of the season lol.
I am excited to see these young guys play together

Yeah, I guess it all depend on him. He's a huge unknown at this point. Nobody has seen him play organized basketball in over a year

I'm not worried about him AT ALL. I just think Robinson's ceiling is higher.

Fair. I almost deleted that wording as "hard time expressing himself" was more generally what I was getting at.

it was really not directed to you. he seems shy or something, maybe socially anxious, i don't know. but he doesn't sound slow, it sounds though like he has some kind of speech impediment.

Trust me. Pooch will regret it the most. He trolled on him(personally i think he changed his pick. When he saw I would Pick Frazier) he said he was gambling he would be there in the second round to K DOT. That was a TEAM NEED and he passed on him for wing. Who I like, but Mitchell Ceiling is even higher than Fraziers.
Like I said. Him doing that was my Gain really at the end of the day. Cause he was one of the top two picks for me. Him & Frazier. I had Bigmen so its whatever, but he had no Legit ones. Kuzma is really just a Big SF. Not a protector.

Liked the Robinson pick. Think if his mind’s right he’ll carve out a niche as a rim runner/lob catcher that will help on the boards and block some shots. Worth the gamble.
