Fair. I almost deleted that wording as "hard time expressing himself" was more generally what I was getting at.

it was really not directly to you. he seems shy or something, maybe socially anxious, i don't know. but he doesn't sound slow, it sounds though like he has some kind of speech impediment.

Do wanted to do computer science. He def not slow...

How the lakers passed him up is Hilarious to me...

For sure. I wanted to clarify for posterity though as what you're saying is closer to what I meant.

I was hoping the Knicks could get this kid, mentioned it a few times in draft threads but didn't think it would happen and let alone with the 2nd round pick. Worth the gamble, he has great size, skill on both side of the court and agility.

Mitch is most likely to pull a Rose and flake out on the team, running home to see his auntie and missing a game for no reason.

Exactly the type of player we need to pick in the 2nd round. Now the process begins!

deserves a serious answer. :)

i'm worried about the way he handled WKU. even if you have some issues or are reconsidering, dude basically left in the cover of night without saying anything. that's either cowardly or brazenly disrespectful. maybe both.

Not a fan of this pick personally, but no harm in seeing if he has any real potential and building him from ground up. Anyone who thinks he'll get a minute of real playing time this year is delusional.

My impression as well, I like the pick as we need to swing for the fences, hopefully it turns into something. But I envision him spending most his time in the G-League this season

And that's OK! We got time for him to get coached right, work on body etc.

honestly, as long has he's been away from organized basketball... that could be a perfect use case for the westchester knicks.

i'm excited to see what he's got in summer league, if he's healthy.

Exactly.
This interview gave me a lot more hope for the kid. I think he is just nervous as hell in all the other interviews. This looks to be just after playing, so his nerves aren't as bad.

He seems sheltered and a little immature. Nothing that can't be fixed. He needs to grow up bad.
He's still a kid, it will happen.
He really could have used a year away from home on his own in college. Let him gain independence and break out of his shell a little bit.

Who he surrounds himself with over the next year or two are going to determine a lot about his future.
Someone like Frank will be great for him. Someone like Beasley...not so much.

He was rumored to be uncomfortable and homesick at college but part of that decision to withdraw was probably on the advice of his handler(s), with the NBA as the goal.

The social adjustment will be a process with him, but I don't think it's fair to paint him as a quitter on his pro career at this point. You could interpret his decisions to withdraw from college and the combine as following bad strategic advice.

Not trying to hate on the kid but sometimes the difference is between the ears. I mean he was a top recruit in the conversation with Bamba, Ayton, Carter, Bagley but he made poor decisions

yeah that interview shows he's not the smartest dude but whatever, it's a 2nd round pick.

hopefully people shut up about willy now, MR. is todays big man.
LOL Y U MAD THO?
