I love the length and athleticism he showed in his clips but there was some very intriguing players still on the board when we picked him.

Kyrie Thomas
G.Trent
J.Vanderbilt
B.Brown
J.Jackson
Bonga
K.Bates Diop
D.Melton
S.Milton
Diallo

and others so i get grabbing a kid like M.Robinson who has the length/wingspan and we have the need but i hope he works out cause there was some good ones still left.

Still a little pissed we didn't buy another 2nd round pick with all those names sitting there. Detroit bought the rights to K.Thomas from the 76ers.

I don't really like this pick. Looks like a G Leaguer to me

That's alright. At least we can count on you to have the pom poms waving with your balls out if he excels

what kind of concerns? serious question.

deserves a serious answer. :)

i'm worried about the way he handled WKU. even if you have some issues or are reconsidering, dude basically left in the cover of night without saying anything. that's either cowardly or brazenly disrespectful. maybe both.

word. to play the other side of the coin however, we truly don't know if he acted that way because of his uncle who was hired to probably (who knows) recruit him there then firing him asap. ncaa is known for their shady tactics after all. def disrespectful he just dipped on them though  I just hope he has his head in the right place entering this career. you know kids act out of spite, especially at 18 years old so we shouldn't really hold that against him. Now if he doesn't put in the work or shows JR tendencies then we def have a problem.

I'm most curious about his defensive instincts. Summer league out of no 5 on 5 for a year+ will be very hard for him, but if he can show some level of defensive awareness it'll be a really good sign.

Exactly.
This interview gave me a lot more hope for the kid. I think he is just nervous as hell in all the other interviews. This looks to be just after playing, so his nerves aren't as bad.

He seems sheltered and a little immature. Nothing that can't be fixed. He needs to grow up bad.
He's still a kid, it will happen.
He really could have used a year away from home on his own in college. Let him gain independence and break out of his shell a little bit.

Who he surrounds himself with over the next year or two are going to determine a lot about his future.
Someone like Frank will be great for him. Someone like Beasley...not so much.

you can sort of tell how shook he is being interviewed by that big ass swallow he took (pause) before he answered the question :lol.

Yeah he's a big time project. Last night I was hoping he wasn't the next Whiteside but today I'm hoping he can at least be better than the next Lucas Noguiera

Sure this kid has nice size and athletic ability but there is something about him that just has me reserved. If he wasn't in the NBA in a few years I really wouldn't be shocked about it. Gonna hope he pans out though but like you said he needs a lot of work.

"Impressive moments"? What's so impressive about him dunking lobs with no defenders on the court?

I like Robinson's potential. Hopefully Fiz can mentor him.
But I do not for the life of me understand why we didn't buy a pick or two with Dolan's money, which gives us no advantages in the NBA. Buying an extra pick or two is the one way that his money can give us a little advantage.

Not a fan of this pick personally, but no harm in seeing if he has any real potential and building him from ground up. Anyone who thinks he'll get a minute of real playing time this year is delusional.

My impression as well, I like the pick as we need to swing for the fences, hopefully it turns into something. But I envision him spending most his time in the G-League this season

Not sure how his blocking will be, but he was regarded extremely highly there coming out of HS.
I can see him being able to get minutes defensively. But for sure spending most time in G league.

You can tell he's been coddled too much in his life. I think being in a locker room with grown men away from home will help him grow up a little. You're a different person when your 20 compared to 25

Mitchell himself is just as intriguing as all those players listed if not moreso. Some mock drafts had him going late 1st round. He was a 5 star prospect last year, rated 3rd best center in the class behind Ayton and Bamba. Why not roll the dice

Not trying to hate on the kid but sometimes the difference is between the ears. I mean he was a top recruit in the conversation with Bamba, Ayton, Carter, Bagley but he made poor decisions

True, and sometimes they grow up around this time, and get a lot better. I believe a number of us on the board would not be alive if we failed to grow up after being that age. But yeah, this guy doesn't sound bright at all.

He was rumored to be uncomfortable and homesick at college but part of that decision to withdraw was probably on the advice of his handler(s), with the NBA as the goal.

The social adjustment will be a process with him, but I don't think it's fair to paint him as a quitter on his pro career at this point. You could interpret his decisions to withdraw from college and the combine as following bad strategic advice.

Yeah, just think he is high risk based on the college fiasco.

A perfect risk to take in the second round though.

He was the number 9 prospect coming out last year (according to video above), which is ironic.
He migh not be that much more a project, depending on what he‘s done since the. What has he done?

Him coming off as shy might not be the worst thing. Seems like a good kid who just needs some training for life in the league, and hopefully the g league can provide that. He doesn't seem to have attitude problems or anything.

My one gripe is the fact that he didn't attend the combine. No reason to skip that after basically missing a full season of organized basketball. But yeah, sky's the limit with that kind of athleticism. I'm excited for him.

From what I heard is that he had a sprained ankle that prevented him from doing anything but shooting drills right around the combine and workouts after. Might have been a stroke of luck for the Knicks because if he did show up and show out he's not there in the second round to get him.
