Though Igor of course loved Doncic, even Ryan loved Doncic, the whole staff but Igor is on board with Ayton and whats best for the team moving forward

OKobo will be on roster

Wait...wut? :o

I listened to the interview - didn't hear that. Igor loved Doncic - yes. Igor IS on board with Ayton.

thanks for clarifying for my poorly worded statement

Igor of course likes Doncic but he is on board with Ayton and knows Ayton is the best thing for the team moving forward.

I like it, and you will probably see that lineup some this year, but just not enough playmaking on offense there.

I do like the idea tough.

Booker Jackson and Bender?

Jackson and Bender can’t handle the rock like a PG. Booker would be gassed by the 3rd quarter of every game if he had to bring the ball up every time and initiate the offense.

Oh, my bad, I didn't know you wanted a ground and pound the ball PG at every position.............

That team is not good enough to be competitive IMO.
They are superyoung, with two rookies and three players under 22. Bender is raw, good for a backup role but not starting material if you really want to win games. A lot of upside on that starting five, but you need veteran players to win. Those young teams do not want games in the NBA.

I think that we are gonna try to trade for a vetersn PG with Warren and the Mil pick.
And I think that we are gonna sign a costly FA with our cap space (Randle, Gordon, Jabari,...).

The next two weeks are gonna be really interesting.

I agree that they need veterans and I agree they will get two of them - one via trade with the assets you mention, plus possibly expiring like Dudley along with using some of the free agent money

Favors at PF - maybe Randle. But with the Igor connection and he will probably be cheaper than the three names you mention.
Smart, Bradley or Walker for G
maybe other forward candidates.

Never said I wanted a ground and pound PG at every position, but maybe someone else who can handle the rock on the court other than Booker would help?

Look, ideally he develops into James Harden, but he’s not there yet. And even James Harden has Paul and Gordon to take some weight off him.

I’m fine with a Booker-Bridges-Jackson-Bender-Ayton lineup for 5-10 mins or so a night, but you want Booker at the 2. That’s where he’s best at.

I think we should sign some veterans or trade.

PG's : Marcus Smart , Kemba Walker , Dragic (Let's add one of these)
PF's: Favors (I am all for him)
C: Nerlens Noel & let Len walk.

I don't think Walker is going anywhere. Bradley and smart aren't really pgs IMO but who knows maybe mcd thinks they are so it's possible.

Lowery is I guess an possiblity or maybe they sign evans.

I don't trust him at all but I guess it's possible they simply roll with knight to start the season.

Lowry would be interesting as though his contract is pretty high - if you take Chandler Dudley and Daniels - almost a wash

I will say this - with Booker, other young players - would be nice to get somebody who will not dominate the ball but move the ball - as I am guessing Kokoskovs offense will be fluid with ball movement. So, Bradley and Smart are probably not ideal for that.

I just don't see how he can roll with Knight and Booker - Ryan needs a third guy

Ulis, Payton, and Chriss not mentioned in Gambo's tweet. I mean even Williams whose contract in guaranteed is listed. Also, Dudley, Chandler and Daniels are listed with their expiring contracts are listed in the team's plans.

Does Payton walk without a Qualifying Offer?

Is Ulis waived?

Does Chriss get traded for a washing machine?

Its going to be an interesting off-season for the Suns since McD has said that they are going to be aggressive.

There seems to be a real sentiment that Chriss and Bender are total busts by a lot of Suns Fans. I am not in that lobby.

I really do not want to get rid of either Chriss or Bender. Both are still just 20 years old, probably 21 by the start of next season.

I want to see them with a legit center and a new coaching staff on a team that really wants to win rather than tank prior to making a final judgement on them. For good reasons their talents put them in the top 10 picks of the 2016 draft. IMO we should give them one last look unless our coach has said he does not want them and that he will not play them. Gambo has no clue.

However if they are required to make a trade for a legit "Engine" for this team I would consider it.

We have plenty of folks I would say good bye to prior to them.

Chandler
Dudley
Knight
Williams
Daniels
Ulis
Reed
Peters
Harrison
House

If we do in fact trade them we also need to find a legit 4/5 to replace them. Chandler will be gone after this year. Williams should not be with the team either. That would leave us with just Ayton at the 4/5 for 19/20, unless you think Warren or Bridges are capable of backing up Ayton.

This group has a chance to be something really special, let's not break it up just yet.

I want to keep Sauce around for the team.

I really think Payton and Ulis can bring something to the table. I hope we don't just kick them to the curb.

We at least better make Oboko TAKE Ulis' spot in training camp. Let's not forget when Ulis was healthy, he played quite well. If Oboko outplays him...then so be it. Oboko does have a higher ceiling. But he needs to earn it.

Payton is an excellent passer and could get to the rim quite well. Now that he cut his hair, I'm curious to see if his outside shot comes along. I'd hate to give up on him too early.

Chriss has the same potential that JJJ has. I wish he had his head right. But again, it would be a mistake to give up on him too early. We need someone like a Kobe to get in his face.

TJ with a 3 point shot has allstar potential. Plus I still love his demeanor.

I'm still most skeptical on Knight. I just don't see him changing his style of play. He's never been a good passer. I've never seen him complete a tough pass in traffic. His shot is notoriously streaky. Last buy not least, his ACL injury will make him less explosive which means lateral movement on defense and penetration on offense could suffer. I just don't see him overcoming all these obstacles. I hope I'm wrong, but... we will see.

As far as I am concerned, unless your last name is Booker, Jackson, Ayton or Bridges (because of the price paid to get him) - anybody and everybody are open for business.

Sauce is a great teammate and a good guy and is pretty cheap. He also is a great trade chip for the next 8 days because a team the Suns trade too only need to attach 10m (Dudley?) with Sauce to a team sending the Suns a 15m per year player - and the team instantly saves 5.5m of cash if they are trying to rebuild. Its a wicked business but those non guaranteed deals have value

I am not cutting Sauce for cap space that you don't use. I am releasing him if they have a better use of that 5.5m. AS for Ulis, with potentially Canaan for the minimum, plus Okobo, and Shaq - his 1.5m is a luxury to me. I want the cap space before - if he wants to come back cheaper - that's fine

I am fine keeping Chriss, Warren and Bender to see if they get better if the deal doesn't materialize. I think a couple things though - the Suns just do not have the space for all these players - something has to give. And for them to start winning games - the talent in the locker room needs to be upgraded. So, this could be tough decisions.

People already think we might have given up too much for Bridges - to keep Sauce - are you willing to add an asset to Chandler to give him up to.

So happy with our draft and now I’m excited to see what we do in free agency and trades to complete the roster.

In free agency, I hope we target a guy like Thaddeus Young for our starting PF position. Guy is a solid vet and glue guy. Versatile on defense with long arms and one of the top guys in steals. I would rather pay a guy like him then give a max to Aaron Gordon. Young would be great to compliment Ayton.

I like this article covering Young’s defense:
