He seems like a good kid but just doesn’t know how to express himself. I also see that he doesn’t seem to want to look anyone in the eyes.

There is nothing wrong with this but I want to know if this has affected his development at all. There is a reason why he didn’t go to college and nobody has given one yet. I’m sure Berman or some crap will dig into it and tell us why soon. And I bet it partially has to do with him in social settings.

Either way, it’s still a good low risk, high reward pick and I fully support it. This is the type of move a team that isn’t winning any time soon should be making in the 2nd round.

Thank you Doctor. You are a genius, being able to diagnose from video interviews. There are many that would insist on seeing a person in the flesh, but the way you do it.....wow! What a time saver.

Exactly.
This interview gave me a lot more hope for the kid. I think he is just nervous as hell in all the other interviews. This looks to be just after playing, so his nerves aren't as bad.

He seems sheltered and a little immature. Nothing that can't be fixed. He needs to grow up bad.
He's still a kid, it will happen.
He really could have used a year away from home on his own in college. Let him gain independence and break out of his shell a little bit.

Who he surrounds himself with over the next year or two are going to determine a lot about his future.
Someone like Frank will be great for him. Someone like Beasley...not so much.

He is a kid that will benefit greatly by having a coach like Fiz to take him under his wing and look out for him. If it's a social disorder then you have to take it slow with him and build that trust. Kawai Leonard isn't exactly a social butterfly but he gets the job done on the court. He could be a deaf mute for all I care as long as he can play at a high level.

Looks raw offensively. If he can shoot and post up, he will be a steal.

I can't wait to see him in Summer League. 8-)

If the NBA was a debate team or mock trial, we would be in trouble.

As long as he produces, posterizes and dunks every damn thing, his verbal acuity doesn't matter much.

If Robinson pans out I **** love him and KP as a combo. Ain't no one gonna be scoring easily in the paint with those two swatting **** away.

Fiz sees him as the starting center in the future. Already Said "Clint Capela" Role then we build him from there.

Mitchell is going to have the Garden Rocking Dunking on Heads. Want him to Yam something Heavy on Embiids head...

Good read on Mitchell Robinson that talks about his strength and weaknesses (including a lot of high school clips I hadn't seen until now) and the whole Western Kentucky saga and how the hurt his stock. Even touches on his shy demeanor that we've already seen on display post draft.

In the fall of 2016, I thought that Robinson was as good of a prospect as any of the top big men in his class. Even among the likes of DeAndre Ayton, Wendell Carter and Mohamed Bamba, Robinson’s height and defensive upside made him in many ways a more intriguing prospect than any of those tremendous talents. Ayton and Carter were much more skilled offensive players and Bamba was more mobile and longer. However, the most valuable centers are able to anchor a defense by controlling the paint and no one in the class did that better than Robinson.

Another pre-draft interview with Mitchell where he's a bit more articulate.

He's more articulate than Scott Perry who I heard on by ESPN and Francesa.

Much better. Kid is gonna be fine.

Thanks for posting this. I feel a lot more comfortable now that he isn't really Derrick Rose's brain, transplanted into a healthier body.

I just noticed that Mitch turned 20 in April, I thought he was 19...well, I guess he was until 2 months ago. He might actually be done growing but his measurements came from last summer so they might be a little off if he grew any in the last year. Still, even if he hasn't being 7-1 with 7-4 wingspan and 9-3 reach is quite impressive.

Yeah I needed a translator for Perry in his Francesa interview. I thought maybe it was me.

Which is probably not all that uncommon if you polled a vast number of college athletes.

Imagine what a year working with the Knicks strength coach could add to his frame.

You never know, he might have grown an inch or two sbce then. He and KP would form the modern version of the twin towers.
