Who give a F if he does find it insulting? It's not going to be a preemptive offer from the Bulls. They will let him test the market which should not be an insult to anyone. If nobody offers him more than he thinks he's worth, great, then he can find the entire NBA insulted him.

Lavine shouldn't get more than Dennis Shroeder money... 15M per. 4/60 or 3/45.

Guess I’ll have box up my Lavine bobble head if he’s gone.

KC hasn't been right about much lately. He's also contradicted himself a couple of times in the last week. Can only be Lakers or Sacto in the West. The only other teams would be Philly, BKN and Indy. Nobody has the cap space to offer much.

I think we could keep him at a reasonable price. I really don't want him leaving and breaking out somewhere else.

I wouldn't doubt Sacramento. They have a hard time attracting talent and are desperate to be competitive.

It's most likely a shot over the bow to any team looking to reduce the Bulls cap flexibility by making an offer they feel will almost certainly be matched. That being said , the Bulls should be open to walking away if the offer is over the top .

Lakers are aiming much higher at the PG24s and LeBrons of this free agency class. I think they would view getting LaVine on a huge deal as a catastrophe since it wrecks their cap space next summer.

If he does come back this year and gets back to being a guy who can average around 18 per game and shoot 3's at near 40%, and be somewhat efficient, and be at least decent on defense, it obviously will be huge in terms of filling the sg spot for the next 5 years or so.

If he either leaves in free agency, or comes back and doesn't perform any better than he did last year, it sets us back by one starter.

I've felt for a long time that LaVine's most likely best case scenario is to be a Jamal Crawford-esque 6th man. He has the athleticism to be more than that, but I just don't see a star when I watch him play.

I agree, my guess is, he eventually becomes a very good bench player on a good team to provide fairly instant offense, or that he never gets it and is one of those, scores a lot of points on a bad team. Which, hey, you can make a mean living that way.

Unfortunately, if he ever gets it, I doubt it will be in the few months, just going by history. Which would be a shame, definitely has some skeelz.

But Sacramento has Buddy Hield and Bogdan Bogdanovic. Do they need another SG-sized player? What about Dallas or the Clips? My understanding is those teams at least could have enough cap space depending on what else they do.

I think Lavine was just trying to hard and was held out too long. OG was injured a month earlier and he played all through training camp and then the full season.

Lavine looked good in several games where he wasn't forcing the issue. I think the tank lineups hurt his rhythm too.

I still believe in Lavine and will be disappointed if he doesn't resign on a reasonable deal. I think him and Dunn could play together but he needs to adjust his game to more of a spot up shooter.

I could actually really see the Lakers here....say they get spurned by LeBron. They need a good 2 Guard that can shoot next to Ball. Even if they get PG24 still, Zach makes sense at the 2 with Ball, Kuzma and PG making up for Defense they could mask Lavine easy.

I can live with $15M per, but much prefer a $20/$20M 1+1 deal. He's got upside, but combination of continued injury risk with not showing enough post-injury would make me gun-shy to spend more.

Actually it could be. If Lavine gets a fat deal somewhere else and walks - that might make the Bulls lose a few more games next year. I'm good with getting another top 5 pick next season while letting Blakeny do pretty much what Lavine does at one-tenth the cost.

Dunn, Markennen and a top 5 pick for Butler? I'll take it.

Someone explain to me why Lavine should even be paid what Tim Hardaway Jr. is paid? And he got paid during that crazy summer.

I like LaVine so I will be pissed if he walks after 24 games. What the Hell was GarPax expecting from a guy coming off a torn ACL?

I'm not sold he will ever be an all-star, but I want to retain him as long as the contract isn't outrageous. It's worth the risk imo.

Well, to counter that, why would Lavine expect a big contract after only playing 24 games poorly after a torn ACL.

If the Bulls do, you would be complaining to much to ever hear it.

NBA fan logic we need to trade one of two best players because (Player X) one needs to shine more.

This is great news. I'd be much more excited for the upcoming season without him.
