I come in peace.
Let's assume you guys have LeBron and George lined up but no Kawhi.
Do you have any interest in DeRozan? If yes, which of your young guys (if any) would you add to Deng to make that trade happen?

I think this has been repeated multiple times before that if we get LeBron and George we need good defenders and shooters. DeRozan is neither, he's a highly paid mediocre efficiency volume scorer who just doesn't fit on a team that doesn't even need his scoring.
So tl;dr no DeRozan.

Re: 2018 Trade Ideas thread
Every F-in year all this chatter about trades before the draft and then chatter about trades on draft night then same BS rhetoric on why teams will wait until FA or trade deadline.
End Result....blahhh
A top 10 pick is treated like gold until draft. After the draft all of a sudden drafted players become less important. All because a top 10 pick allegedly has more talent than an actual player picked Top 10.
As much as I love the NBA I hate these BS headlines.

Skal for Zubac
Skal would fit us nicely and get us that centre who can run the floor (nice fit up top also with Wagner).

Re: 2018 Trade Ideas thread
Man... i'm starting to feel that we're not moving Deng + picks for pure cap space. I think teams got caught up in the hype and were having utterly irrational demands for their open cap space. Pretty much no picks were moved in regards to cap space savings.
WIth our Spurs like picks (except for maybe Sviatoslav), we're either trading for Kawhi with Deng bundled in, or we're just gonna hold onto Deng for the year. So basically Ingram + Kuz + Wagner + Bongo + Deng for Kawhi + Mills.
Unless LBJ gives a promise to sign, which i dont think he will, we're gonna be stuck with Deng and no stretch.
I really felt the best time to move Deng was at the draft with our #25 included as part of the sweetener package.
Ugh this month is gonna be wild.

I could still see it happening. I think we're holding onto these picks maybe to lure the Spurs into a deal that doesn't involve Ingram, Wagner could be security for if we lose Kuzma (different types of stretch 4's but still) or to go in the deal himself (idk, a matched Randle + the 3 picks for Leonard with Deng off to a third party for a future pick or two).

Can Randle be traded since a FA - what's the deal with RAndle?? I'm guessing no team will trade for him since his a FA?

Re: 2018 Trade Ideas thread
interesting idea i just thought about....
As soon as PG and Lebron say they will commit to LA
3 way:
LA: Lebron
OKC: Deng, Zubac, IT (S&T 4 year/50mil)
CLE: Melo, unprotected LA 2019 FRP
Cleveland gets someone that can fill seats for name sake and a pick.
OKC get some scoring help with IT and a cheap center in Zubac,
LA gets out of Deng's contract at the cost of a pick and zubac

Would we do this...
3way:
LA: Jalen Brunson and Zhaire Smith
Dallas: Kuzma and Deng
Philly: Wesley Mathews and 2019 LA FRP (unprotected)
We get out of Deng's contract at the heavy price of Kuzma and a FRP.... but get 2 quality young players.
p.s..... there should be a thread on best ideas to get rid of deng.... that's more deserving than a Kwahi trade thread, in which we barely have a chance.

No way am i giving up Kuzma after the Hornets just took on Mozgov for an expiring and 2 2nds.
I'd give them a first, for not taking on salary, and then the two seconds we just drafted.

It could be argued that Zhaire Smith and Brunson would be good value for Kuzma...
add that to getting rid of Deng's contract and having enough cap space for a 3rd star, or 2/3 good role players like rondo, tyreke evans and noel?
You still wouldn't do that?.... you cray cray.

What is Rondo going to do for us, Tyreke we could get on an MLE anyway, Noel is an MLE talent. No i wouldn't deal our 2nd best young player just to get rid of Deng, that would be stupid, especially when it is only to get some bit part players.

Did you watch Rondo in the playoffs?.... he is a seasoned Lonzo, with better defense.
We should also see if Dallas would trade Wesley Mathews, straight up, for deng, zubac, 2019 LA FRP (unprotected). There are plenty of teams, that would take on WM;s expiring contract as a salary absorption.
Also... here is a bit on Brunson by cbssports: "Brunson's coming off averaging 18.9 points, 4.6 assists and 3.1 rebounds, but check the overall averages: 59.9 from 2, 40.8 from 3 and 80.2 from the foul line. His statistics make a case on top of the obvious one: You can't deny his feel and intellect for basketball when you watch him play. It's hard to see how he slips past 35 in this draft, but going past 20 is still too much. Still, it's likely to happen. He is the most blatant sleeper candidate of the past five drafts, I think"
And Zhaire Smith...45-inch vertical, 6'9 wingspan, high IQ, tenacious defense.... also:
A quick comparison of Smith’s freshman season stats per 40 minutes with Mitchell’s should explain why there’s reason to be interested:
Player Points Usage Assists Rebounds Steals Blocks
Mitchell (Fr.) 15.5 20.9 3.5 7.0 1.7 0.2
Smith (Fr.) 15.9 18.3 2.5 7.0 1.6 1.6

and that's worth giving up Kyle Kuzma for. We need to build for the future and add in the present, not trade it away so we can sign some bit part players and be rubbish again in 4 years.

Re: 2018 Trade Ideas thread
Magic fan coming in peace asking a question about Lonzo in a potential trade. I might be waaayyy out of left on this, and if I am, please let me know.
If rumors are to be believed, Lakers have a decent shot at LeBron this summer. More rumors suggest Chris Paul might be at odds with Houston over a max contract. If CP3 and LBJ team up in LA, I read an article that said the Lakers might look to move Ball, especially since LeBron and LaVar have never seen eye to eye.
What do you think about an offer of Evan Fournier, Jonathan Simmons, and a lottery-protected 1st for Ball and Luol Deng? Fournier could be the 2-guard that’s an excellent 3-point shooter and Simmons would be the defensive dog-type that LeBron covets to do the dirty work.
If that wasn’t enough, I’d try to revise the deal: Fournier, Simmons, and Vucevic for Ball, Deng, and Channing Frye.
In either scenario, Deng’s contract hurts us. 3 more years at $17M per is a lot to swallow. But Fournier’s contract isn’t great either, with 4 years at $17M, but at least LA would get rid of Deng and Fournier solves a need: 3-point shooting. Vucevic is a capable starter or sweet-shooting solid bench center made expendable with Bamba being drafted. Frye is an expiring so it doesn’t matter much either way. He’s just in there for salary cap purposes.
Now I don’t know if that offer is good enough at all, but not many teams need a PG so it may have to do if LeBron is adamant about not playing with Ball. Off the top of my head, Phoenix, Indiana, LAC and Milwaukee would probably be interested, and maybe Charlotte, Chicago and Detroit. We’d have to beat their offers, and it may have to involve a protected 1st rounder. But Ball would give us incredible size and length all around and the Lakers could potentially boast a lineup of:
Vucevic
LeBron
George
Fournier
Paul
This is assuming PG could be had in a sign and trade for Ingram or Kuzma something.
So what do you think? Just curious to see if I’d get laughed out of my own forum.
