Another pre-draft interview with Mitchell where he's a bit more articulate.

He's more articulate than Scott Perry who I heard on by ESPN and Francesa.

Yeah I needed a translator for Perry in his Francesa interview. I thought maybe it was me.

Both were pathetic interviews. Not only because Perry seemed uncomfortable and close-lipped but also because neither Kay nor Francesa asked him the pertinent questions like (1) why did you decided to take Knox over Mikal?; (2) If defensive players were a priority, why Knox over Mikal?; (3) What's going on in free agency and our two centers?

I usually care about that stuff, but in this case I really don't. He wasn't the 9th pick, he was a 2nd rounder. I don't expect him to be the leader of the franchise or anything close to it. He's got potential to really outproduce his draft slot, that's all you can really expect from a 2nd round pick.

What I am excited about from that clip is his shooting. I have been trying to find videos of him making a damn shot and all I see is dunks. That's great. We know he can dunk. I needed to see him knock down a shot and that video shows him doing it (all the way out to the 3pt line too). He's also been working on his handle too, which is another plus.

We know he's gonna bring shot blocking, some rebounding, running the floor and dunking. What we need to see him do is at least be a threat to hit a jumper or take his man off the dribble as well as learn to stay out of foul trouble. If he can add those things to the ones he already does well, then we got a steal.

maybe he had a promise form the Celtics at 27 rather than the Lakers (or maybe the Lakers too) and was only passed over b/c Williams fell

Truly. This Robinson fella would have been a top pick years ago.
I dunno.

One thing I like about his highlights is that when he grabs a rebound he looks down the court for a long outlet pass. He might have Kevin love type outlets. You can tell he is a willing passer and loves running up and down the court.

This dude gives me a weird vibe, he could either become a superstar and biggest steal of the draft or be out of the league in few years.

Idk I hope for the best, dude has talent and physical gifts thats for sure

He's a 2nd Rounder. Doesn't need to meet high expectations. Just hope he's a steal.

I personally think that overly extroverts for thr knicks are not a good thing. NY eats up extroverts. Think about the atheletes that last in NYC; Jeter, Ewing, ect... They are reserved people. Guys like KP are perfect for NY. reserved, doesnt seek additional attention knowing they will have plenty of it coming their way.

Would you look at that. A Knicks coach trying to put their good scoring SF in a P&R situation with a C.

Did you see that Fisher, Rambis, Jefe?

I kept saying the whole time Melo was here with KP the Knicks should put the two of them in the P&R together. I think they did, like actually 2 times. I mean two whole plays.

Ok, I’m all in and hyped for our summer league/regular season rotation team. We’ll need to be a good team rebounding team as no one on this roster really stands out on the boards, but we should be a very athletic and fun team to watch.

Great find! Segment says he was projected as a mid to late 1st rounder. Interesting

Exactly.
This interview gave me a lot more hope for the kid. I think he is just nervous as hell in all the other interviews. This looks to be just after playing, so his nerves aren't as bad.

He seems sheltered and a little immature. Nothing that can't be fixed. He needs to grow up bad.
He's still a kid, it will happen.
He really could have used a year away from home on his own in college. Let him gain independence and break out of his shell a little bit.

Who he surrounds himself with over the next year or two are going to determine a lot about his future.
Someone like Frank will be great for him. Someone like Beasley...not so much.

He is a kid that will benefit greatly by having a coach like Fiz to take him under his wing and look out for him. If it's a social disorder then you have to take it slow with him and build that trust. Kawai Leonard isn't exactly a social butterfly but he gets the job done on the court. He could be a deaf mute for all I care as long as he can play at a high level.

THIS!!!! Couldn't say that previously.

No NBA skills? Care to elaborate? Like what? I've seen shot blocking, shooting touch, taking correct angle when rolling to the basket, not to mention the agility.

But unlike his peers in the draft, Robinson, never played college basketball. He was enrolled at Western Kentucky but ultimately withdrew from school to focus on training for this year's draft.

"Since I took a year off, I've got to go out there and show what I can do now," Robinson said. "I've worked on my game a lot and improved on a lot of different things that I can do now. I can shoot the ball more. I've got a running hook. I just developed that. Then I've got my mid-range and then I've got my post game, and I can handle the ball."

can't wait for summer league.

In his high school clips his post footwork looked non existent/awful - the detailed look someone shared. But he has athletic skills and ability to play in space, cut etc that are well advanced for a young player. He's a project, but if gets his footwork on offense straight and and some jump hooks, running hooks, look out. A project, but there could be a place for him right away.

Still seems like he'd benefit from the consistent minutes in the G-League for at least half a year, as I think someone already posted.

Now, obviously Tyson Chandler was more advanced coming into the league and also made a conscious decision to play completely to his strengths and not all his abilities, but TC made a career out of defense, rebounding a P&R play. D Jordan too, though clearly a much bigger guy.

Since he didn’t go to the combine even though he was training for it, maybe the Knicks gave him a promise before hand? Why would he train for it and then not go?

I think someone said he had a minor injury around the combine, didn't want to participate since he might aggravate it and he wouldn't be at his best

Rigged for sure. Was thinking the same thing.
Knicks might have had a long talk with him. Just my thoughts
