Elton Brand was pretty smart, too. That’s who I see in Carter more than anybody - both the good and the bad.
I think, if Elton Brand had been drafted to a team that already had a Lauri Markkanen, we wouldn't hold Elton Brand in such low esteem.
A. Brand took almost no 3pt shots his entire career, and WCJ comes in advertised as a talented shooter for a big.
B. Brand's best season 2005-2006, with the Clippers, still under Donald Sterling, featured Vladimir Radmanovic for half of the season, who shot 41% from 3 on an average of 8 attempts per game.
In that season Elton Brand averaged 25pts/10reb/2blks, and played 79 games of an 82-game season, at an average of 39mpg.
That Clippers team finished the regular season 2nd in the Pacific Division at 47-35, behind Steve Nash, Shawn Marion and Amare Stoudamire's Phoenix Suns.
It made the playoffs and beat a Denver Nuggets team featuring Carmelo Anthony, Marcus Camby and Kenyon Martin 4 games to 1.
It then lost to Phoenix in the 2nd round in a 7-game series.
