I think so because we haven’t proven anything yet. You only take Hezonja ( if he will come) because it’s a unique opportunity to get a young player like him.

But assuming it Bagley. ( top mock draft choice)

Our line-up would look like

Giles / KK / ZBo
Bagley or WCS / Skal
Hezonja or Justin Jackson or Shumpert
Bogdanovic/ Hield
Fox / Mason or Temple

It will be a big mistake if you pass on Doncic! If I am your president for operation, I will fire all your scouting team and your GM.

The kid will be a superstar on this league someday. He might struggle early but once acclimated, watch out! More so than Nowitzki superstar status! This is a make or break pick for you guys! If you pass on him your team really are cursed!

On a lighter note question for you. Do you have the money to sign a max player like Paul George (UFA)?

Can you envision a roster like this?
Doncic / Fox
Hield / Bogdan
George / Temple
Favors / Skal
WCS / Kosta

Well we just fired our head of scouting largely for drafting PappaG. We don’t have enough cap space for George.

As for your line-up, no way that team could stop any backcourt with Doncic and Hield starting.

Couple noteworthy but probably meaningless notes heading into FA:
De'Aaron has the same agent as Marcus Smart
Both Bogdan and Skal have the same agent as Clint Capela

As much as I don't want another guard, the thought of adding a competitor like Marcus Smart is intriguing. You can never have too many undersized two guards that we play at the three, right?

Who doesn’t get minutes out of
Fox/Mason
Buddy/Shumpert
Bogdan/JJ
Bagley/Randolph/Skal
WCS/Kosta/Giles

Mason and Giles will be under 10mpg.
Obviously we don’t need another big, who is the most realistic guy to trade/sign?
I think going after Otto Porter would be wise, go all in on him while we have these guys on rookie contracts.
Would the Wiz just be looking for salary relief?
I’m thinking Porter/Mahinmi/2nd for WCS/Randolph/Shumpert.
I know the FO wants cap space next year but IMO with Bagley as our number 1 and Fox/Buddy/Bogdan it would be a no brainer. Porter is the piece we are missing right now. He is overpaid but it won’t effect us at all and Mahinmi is expiring next season, we essentially use the expirings, or some of them to wait another year, but the core is absolutely done, except for the 5 spot which is a worry but it can be fixed.
We aren’t signing a great player or great fit for this team, we need to trade for one and now is the time to strike with these expirings.
Next season that saves the Wizards almost 43 million and they get guys they can use this season and help them.
Our roster is more balanced after the trade too.
Fox/Mason
Bogdan/Buddy
Porter/JJ/
Bagley/Skal/Cooley (would reward him)
Kosta/Giles/Mahinmi
Would need to round out the wings etc with some vets or if Temple is opting in that fills one spot.
So what do you think?

From everything I have heard you are way under estimating Giles. Supposedly he was the Kings best player last year before a summer of work.

If he is half as good as rumored he gets way more than 10 minutes. Between Bagley and Giles the Kings wont be among the worst rebounding teams next year.

Yeah I probably am underestimating him. I just don’t think we should expect a huge amount from him, not because of him, because of the coach more than anything

Giles is a physical power player according to Dave on the radio today. Dave’s kind of guy.

Excellent then. Hopefully he plays him and allows him to play through his mistakes.

Physical power player that's built like a bamboo plant. haha. J/K, the Kings have a lot of skinny players but I think they are wiry types so it should be fine.

The thing with Giles is I think they won't want to throw him out there right away and still ease him in. That will help Joerger in finding excuses to continue to play Zbo and Kosta. :banghead:

About what? Zbo and Kosta being forced down our throats? I sure hope so but I just get the feeling he's going to go right back to step 1 like an alcoholic going right back to the bottle.

Over/under 25 games on how long Randolph starts over Bagley?

The thought of it makes me cringe. We'll see how Bagley looks but he comes into this as the sort of player ready to go from day 1. He's not a finished product but the stats on last year when going with the veterans doesn't give any reasoning behind not just going full on youth from the get go.

I read Wenyen Gabriel is joining the Kings SL team. Good to see. I think he's more 4 than 3 but it just wouldn't be right not having a rookie Kentucky player on the roster somewhere.

I hope Nigel Hayes is getting another shot.

I'm big time in favor of getting Kuzma but i'm starting to doubt taking back Deng alone would get it done. It seems the Lakers value Kuzma more than anyone else on their current roster.

i'm not sure paying an older Ariza big money is the best thing for our timeline. You'd almost rather suck for a year and hope JJ develops. If Ariza suddenly starts showing his age that would look like a terrible long term contract.

A lot of people seem to be jumping on the "sign tyreke" bandwagon. He can defend 3s and suddenly has a shot but the way he plays is just an offense killer. This is about to be his 10th year in the league and i think he's only had 1 season with a winning record. Def not a 'play within the offense' type of guy.

Is there any way Randle could still work with our roster? Play Randle at 4/Bagley at 5 and trade off ZBo and Willie. Would take a lot of maneuvering.

Gordon can guard 3s, doesn't have the most reliable jumper, but if orlando somehow doesn't want him we should jump on that one.

With all that said, the reality may be someone like Joe Harris.
