His ceiling could be Anthony Davis 2.0 but I think his floor is lower than Javale. We can't be for sure that he will even last in the league because he is such an unproven mystery. Another reason why you know the Knicks are high on him. Cause they Flew him in secretly. I dont remember Robinson coming in for any meeting dinners etc. They made sure the media knew nothing about his visit.. They KNEW any interest in him would prob cause him to get picked before they could pick him if he did slip out the first round.

Knicks wanted Mitchell Bad. They did it real smooth and stealth like.

They said it in the press conference they met with him before the draft, yet there was not a peep for any NY media or Media period that meeting happened. So thats a stealth move on their behalf. They totally kept it under wraps.

So they weren't unprepared when he dropped. That's why I think he dropped so far. Everyone thought the Lakers were snatching him and weren't prepared.

Lakers probably thought they were the only team that scouted him at all. They played themselves.

I looked at these highlights and see he has work to do. Doesn’t box out and watches when he should contest at times. A good project for Fizdale.

What I noticed most was his strength and conditioning wasn't where it needs to be. That is something he spent the past year working on along with improving his footwork which looked raw in that HS game.

Agreed. That’s why I think we should temper expectations for this kid. He’s not ready for prime time. Perhaps 2-3 years. He’s young so time is on his side of the Knicks are truly invested in him as a prospect.

You do realize this is video of him from more than a year ago? The past year he's been working out and he's even been working out with AD's trainer, there are some vids of it posted in this thread.

Look at the scrawny chest of that skinny kid in that HS and compare it to what he looks like now, it's night and day. Plus that weaker player with the terrible footwork would not be able to do the one dribble dunks from the opposite 3 point line like he did in that other vid.

So nobody can really make any conclusions about what his timeline is from that HS game vid. It could be 2-3 years, or 2 years from 2 years or he might come in this season playing 15mpg putting up pers that will make fans salivate for the future... who really knows.

He could easily be better than McGee but I don’t want to put expectations on him as I don’t have enough tape on him. I’m a big fan of the pick, but I’m not going to gas him until I see him in the SL.

That’s kind of my point, no one really knows so we just have to be patient and enjoy having youth to develop. I think if we place so much on him with expectations he would be considered a bust if he doesn’t reach them right away. I love that we are going the route of youth with high upsides. But oftentimes that takes time to reap the rewards.
