Summer league has to be the most useless evaluation tool to the common fan that exists in any sport.

I’m rooting for Billy Preston to make the team.

Former 5 Star Recruit and Ranked #11 in the Nation by Rivals.com.

Yet he NEVER played a game in college.

That’s why he went undrafted. Bizarre story.
Similar to Mitchel Robinson’s story I guess.

The only summer league I remember was 2003. And that’s really only because a then classmate of mine got access to the games when I was at UCF.

Normally Summer league is great for the players that didn't get drafted to get some reps in for coaches who may have not seen them or even heard of them before etc and that maybe needed to see them against similar competition if the film they have seen was against lesser players etc, but not worth watching for any fan. But I will watch some of it this year as there were some undrafted prospects this season that would have been 2nd rounders in most drafts. I think the next few drafts are going to be the worst in decades outside the lottery whereas this years was outstanding value. when you can get Khyri Thomas at 38 , Deanthony Melton at 46 or Shake Milton at 54 and prospects like Rawle Alkins, Trevon Bluiett and Gary Clark go undrafted you know it was a great draft class.
Preston could turn out to be a gem for us , and I'm down with Sexton...but not making a move to grab Thomas after he fell to the 2nd round is something I have a difficult time accepting...Detroit quietly had one of the best drafts of anyone getting both Thomas and Bruce Brown. The funny thing is they are stacked at the 2 and so, maybe 1 can be had in a trade.
