I think its pretty close. He is extremely fast. He is an excellent leaper. He is 6-7 with a 7-2 wingspan. JJ is 6-8 with a 6-10 wingspan. Mikal is a smarter JJ with an excellent jump shot. I do not know how there is any getting around that. Mikal is a year older, so JJ has one year to catch up with his shooting.
JJ is high BBIQ as well, so I wouldn't immediately put Mikal above in in feel. JJ is for sure a better athlete and one of the fastest players in the league. And JJ is better w the ball in his hands. Let's slow it down w the hype. There's a reason JJ was the number 4 in the first place.
JJ’s BBIQ at the NBA level remains to be seen. You can’t jusge his high volume/low efficiency in a tanking season.
JJ showed a lot of aptitude when Triano sat him down to study film and proved a lot in the second half of the season. Don't forget how well he played at Kansas. He was always making good decisions for them. Mikal is smart, don't get me wrong, but JJ has a better scoring instinct.
