I'm very intrigued. I have them making the playoffs this season. Them and the Sixers have the most talented starting five after the Celtics and Warriors. If they don't win 45 games it will be really bad coaching or major injuries that prevent it.
Wait, what?
I had to go back and read what good team you were talking about, then realized you weren't.

Calling all cap gurus...does Denvers Max to Jokic get them out of the Marcus Smart sweepstakes?

Pretty much most teams are out of the smart sweepstakes as they spend money on other players. Most teams can offer 8.9 m a year. That's the non taxpayer MLE. I doubt we see 10m for him. We will see.

If we stay below threshold and pay Baynes - which is first priority - it will leave QO for Smart. Maybe they can convince both to take 8m each.
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

What does this mean for teams going forward? Will it have any impact on the salary cap or luxury tax?

Baynes will be just under 6m. Smart 10m? Wanaburger 1-2m tops. We'll be good.

I assume it provides the owners with more liquidity and will help with cashflow. Means that when the big tax bills come through, they dont need to panic about paying it immediately. Particularly with teams like GSW who will have will have a monster tax bill but also huge revenues

Pacers declined Lance Stephenson's 4.3 million option. He's a free agent now.

If Smart leaves, maybe, just maybe, he could replace him

What about Mario Hezonja? If Smart goes, I would like to see us trying to get him on MLE.

After actually reading the article from Woj, which is really just a paragraph or two, I think I have a better understanding of it. It's just a loan essentially. $325m per team. That's a $9.75 billion credit line for the teams. Which is up $2.25 B from last year. I don't know why it confused me so much at first. Anyways, that's a big chunk of a new arena if a team was in a position to use their line of credit for such. I'm sure you are more in tune with what it is actually used for though. Sort of a financial safety net.

Hadn't thought of lumpy capital expenses such as a new arena, good call!

We're actually 3rd favorite (tied with Sixers) to land Dwayne Wade.
This must be based solely on him ring chasing if we land Kawhi or Lebron.
