I expected this. He is in position to secure his last big payday. He had a great season making his value high. If Im his agent thats what I tell him to do as well. Im concerned this will not end favorably for Indy cuz if they resign him he will likely become an albatross in two to three years when they need the cap space for Domas or Myles or both. On the flipside, he was a key player to the success the team had this season so if he goes he isn't easily replaced especially on the reasonable cap number he was on.

I still think 3 years/30 mil gives Thad some security while creating some cap space for this year. Not saying there might not be a better deal out there for me. Without thinking too much Utah would be a good fit for him.

WOuldnt be the end of the world to bring back com back BOoker, give LEaf some minutes while seeing if Sabonis and Turner can in fact play together. Use the cap space that we have left to shore up other positions.

I wonder how much of this is Thad honestly having a problem deciding, and how much might be his agent trying to get that last bit from the Pacers. Or even digging deeper into what alternatives (read that as interest from other teams) may be available to Thad.

I have to think if Thad had totally made up his mind to leave, he would have told the Pacers. Doesn't seem like the sort to just string them along.

I'm kind of indifferent on Thad Young's decision. He's a good player and I think he was really important not just on the court this year, but also helping set the tone that made our locker room a good one. However, we're not a contending team yet so he's not 100% necessary. If he moved on and we spent the money on a younger piece or two, I'd be OK with that. I think that he's already contributed by presenting a good example to guys like Turner and Sabonis of how to be a professional. I think that's important to the young guys. He's a versatile, useful player but he's not irreplaceable.

My guess is that he really is undecided. I suspect that the numbers his agent puts in front of him show that he makes more money over his remaining years by opting out. However, if he opts out there's a decent chance he ends up playing somewhere else. He really seems to like it in Indy. He's played in other places throughout his career and maybe he's had some bad situations too so he knows what the difference is and he's weighing whether the extra money is worth the chance of spending a few years in a possibly worse situation. That's my pop psychology prediction for Thad Young.
