Johnny Firpo wrote:Hey guys, I need your help! I am writing a Doncic piece (not in English), and I am looking for information that was mentioned in this thread a couple months ago. Both in relation to his athletic ability. He participated in a measurement/evaluation maybe one or two years ago that came to the conclusion - with numbers and a depth-in evaluation - that he is very athletic. And I also saw a video a couple of days ago, where someone from a company told that they measured his lateral quickness, and he is actually pretty quick even by NBA standards. I couldn't find neither, but I remember a European poster of ours copy&pasted that long evaluation in one of our previous Doncic threads. Maybe some of you have this stuff bookmarked? Thanks in advance!

Do you mean this?

Congratulations to P3 athlete Luka Doncic for being named the unanimous EuroLeague Rising Star Trophy for the 2016-17 season. Luka has put together one of the greatest seasons by a teenager in European basketball history. Not only did Doncic become the youngest player to ever claim MVP of the Round honors in the EuroLeague, he went on to do so four times this season (second most of any player) and helped lead Real Madrid to the Final Four next week in Istanbul. Luka has spent a few weeks at P3 the past two summers. Luka combines outstanding anthropometric measurements, including an 8'9.5" standing reach (88th percentile for NBA guards) and 228.8 lbs of mass with very competitive and improving movement qualities. In the lateral plane, Luka's ability to abduct the hip (1 dev above the mean) allows him to generate Force more efficiently than most NBA players that we've assessed (71st percentile in lateral acceleration). He's become particularly adept in a change-of-direction environment, where his Slide Agility times outpace most NBA Guards tested at P3 and they've improved by roughly 0.25s in the past year. Vertically, Luka ranks better than 73% of NBA guards in height touched during the approach and his improved his countermovement jump by 2 inches in the past year. He's good now, he's still getting better, and he's well within his physical development window!

Wow, that was quick, you are awesome, thank you! :)

As for the pre-draft video with some extra footage and information from the same company, this is it:

Doncic planned to do the same tests this summer, but this might have changed if Mavs think there is no use for that.

BTW, you can post the link to your piece anyway. :)

I'm talking about Jalen Brunson, yet another steal pick for DAL:

Didn't read up much about him other than the accolades. I suppose he can't touch the top of the backboard and dunk 360, he must be trash.

Yes, seriously, he seems like a PERFECT back-up PG for a truly contending team. I actually like him a lot more than DSJ, for example.

Mario Hezonja looked like f***ing Kobe Bryant out there against those dudes. Got a rude awakening when he made it to the league.

Obviously he didn’t play as many minutes but you saw the ability he showed.

Hezonja was by far the worst player in the entire EuroLeague playoff series between Olympiacos and Barca. He was easily the worst player of either team. And you are comparing him to a guy that just led his team a championship.....OK.....

Are they seriously listing Jalen Brunson at 6-3....he's like 6-0 at most.

I remember him playing in the World under-19 cup against Greece, and little guys like Vassilis Toliopoulos and Dimitris Stamatis were much bigger than him............no way in hell is he even 6-2.

That's the kind of measurements that makes people not believe NBA measurements. I remember Stamatis being like 2 inches taller than him........Stamatis is one of the smallest guards in Greek league.

I think it's best to leave it to Mirotic to come up with some good conspiracies based on this photo. Finley was listed as 6'7 and Carlisle as 6'5. Fire away, I'm sure something doesn't add up here.

Had to look hard to see Brunson on top of Mirotic. And then I saw where Finley's hand was. :D

Anyway, Doncic is resting, no national team and no summer league.

He will be around national team, though.

Finley was measured at 6'5 3/4" without shoes. He's likely shrunk slightly with age but not considerably. So 6'7" with shoes. If you look at his shoulders and where they line up plus his head, he's clearly slightly taller than Doncic. So at best, WITH shoes, Doncic is 6'7". The notion he was 6'8" was always an embellishment

Doncic is about 6-8 in shoes, and Brunson is MAYBE 6-1 in shoes.

This thread is crazy. People guaranteeing HOF LOL. I'm just curious. What do people think he's going to average next year? Also, I might be wrong, but I think teams will attack Doncic on the pick and role. Until he proves that he can consistently top notch wings on the switch, he'll be a defensively liability. Ultimately, I don't see Doncic as a game changer. I don't see him as a can't miss prospect. And I don't think his presence will change the Mavs very much. Barring significant additions in the offseason, the Mavs will be right back in the top 5 picks next draft. Doncic might be good, but I'm not seeing the elite scoring. Doncic, is at best a Scottie Pippen or Manu Ginobli type. A smart, high iq #2, but he needs a #1. Also, depending on how good his defense is, his teams might really struggle. Anyone saying out of the box that he can guard 1-4 is delusional. I don't see him guarding, quick and shifty guards well at all. All in all, I'm not nearly as high on Doncic as other people here. Guaranteed HOF. LOL!

There are a lot of things you don’t see.
Or if you see you might just don’t understand yet.
