Rejoice treyzZz, rejoice!

ChicagoSports.com wrote:HOUSTON-- Will the third time be the charm for Felix Pie?

The Cubs have decided to recall Pie back from Triple-A Iowa once again, and he'll be available for Wednesday night's game against Houston ace Roy Oswalt.

Pie was hitting .360 at Iowa with nine home runs and 42 RBIs. In his two previous stints with the Cubs, he hit .216 with two home runs and 18 RBIs in 139 at-bats.

"We've been fortunate to date with a lot of our young kids," manager Lou Piniella said on Tuesday. "And we're getting a lot of them now."

Pie's presence will give Piniella a chance to move Jacque Jones back to a corner outfield spot, where he's best suited to play. With the huge outfield expanse at Coors Field, where the Cubs begin a four-game series on Thursday, a centerfielder with Pie's range and defense is more of a necessity than a luxury.

The Cubs will have to make a roster move before Wednesday's game. It could be either Ronny Cedeno, who is 3-for-15 since being recalled on July 24, or Eric Patterson, since the Cubs would have six outfielders with Pie up, including four left-handed hitters.

And the Iowa shuttle probably isn't slowing down any time soon. Left-hander Carmen Pignatiello (2.78 ERA) and catcher Geovany Soto (.348 average) could be next in line to get the call. The Cubs are down to one left-handed reliever now that Will Ohman has been demoted to Iowa, and back-up catcher Koyie Hill is hitting only .153.

I can't wait either, hopefully he is more successful than Jones. I hate to say it boys but Jones has been pretty productive and Pie is going to have impress to beat him out.

There is about two months left of the season so if Felix doesn't do well at first and he sticks around I don't have much of a doubt he'll be playing in front of Jones.

i dont care how well jones has been doing lately. his arm and his base running ability is too much of a liability.

okay, so we got rid of ohman and miller. now we called up pie. so far so good. now hendry should go after pena.

I never said I'm trying to lobby for Jones. I hate him as much as I hate Ohman, but Lou plays the guys that have been producing. Although his idiotic blunders might be enough for Lou to demote him from everyday to pinch hit, no running I agree he sucks at that. Fast but no skill.

Even if Pie does marginally worse I think its in the best benefit of the team to play Felix ahead of Jones. Speed and defense are alone enough to surpass Jones, I just wish Pie could swing against left handers, then we'd see him play everyday.

Eric is a 2B.

I want to see this lineup:

Theriot - SS
Pie - CF
Lee - 1B
ARam - 3B
Floyd - LF
DeRosa - RF
Patterson - 2B
Kendall - C

um, yeeeaaahhh, im gonna have go ahead and disagree w/ you on that one.

i like the theriot and fontenot combo. the 1 2 punch. plus there is no way pie bats 2nd yet. he is going to have to earn it. he will most likely bat 7th. after the the couple of whiffs from patterson, im done w/ him. i know thats wrong, but he bats and swings just like the dreaded corey.

Lol.. Have you seen Fontenot's 2nd half numbers? He's been an absolute clown at the plate.

Pie doesn't have to earn shjit. The offense is anemic and he will most likely spark the top of the order.

And honestly I wouldn't be shocked to Fontenot getting shipped back to Iowa.. He's been that bad.

he is in a mini slump that fontenot. he will be alright. plus the double play combo is poetry in motion. lol

you really think lou is going to bat pie at the top? before he got sent down he was batting down in the order.
id be surprised if he bats at the top early.

Patterson was brought along as a 2B, but he's been learning outfield and supposedly is quite solid at it.

And yeah. I'll go ahead and agree with the other poster who doesn't like your lineup. You're going to take a lineup that's been horrible and make it worse, adding a .272 OBP to the top of the order.

I'd rather see DeRosa and Pie switched, and I think that's much closer to a lineup you may actually see.

Patterson is a 2B.. All his value as a player is there.

He is an average (probably below average) OFer.. Both defensively & offensively.

No one has been performing out of the 2 spot as is, I don't see how putting Pie's speed & bat in that spot makes the lineup worse than it has been of late.

I wouldn't mind seeing Murton or DeRosa in the #2 spot, but I think Lou likes hitting DeRosa 5th.

I disagree. When Theriot got moved back to the 2 spot in July he was hitting .348. In fact I think it was when Fontenot got moved from the 2 spot his avg dropped. So in reality we've had 2 guys who have doing good in the 2 spot.
Ofcourse if you want to just look at the last week then you have an argument. I'd putTheriot and Fontenot as 1-2 instead. And leave Patterson out of the lineup.

Edit- Nevermind. Just saw the lineup for tonight. :banghead:
