Coach of the Year - Dwayne Casey

Yay? Didn’t watch the awards but just got an alert. This has to have some merit to it...right?

Was nice to see Gores sitting there next to Casey and his wife. And also hearing how appreciative Casey was for this chance after getting fired in Toronto. Sounds like he's ready to get to work and make Toronto regret letting him go.

I never really set much store by awards like this.

But my god, the hate he's getting on the General Board....

I didn't even look at the Raptors board where I'm sure it was much worse, not that that's easy to imagine.

Toronto shouldn't have fired him. Next season we should have 4 wins against them :). We need 46 more and I'll be happy.

Yet Ujiri can do no wrong....

They weren't equipped to beat Lebron in the playoffs, simple as that. The Ibaka contract was a bad miss play.

:nonono: A little dramatic. The "hate" is a little exaggerated. Whiny Raptors fans pretty much are the only ones complaining. If anything there's just as many saying he worked wonders with the crap choking team he had to work with

Casey oversaw a steady improvement for the Raptors. People want to argue that he "couldn't get them over the top." Red Auerbach couldn't have done that. They don't have the personnel. Great coaches always have great players.

Congrats to Dwane! It was a nice, humble speech. Excited to see what he can do with this team next season.

Really excited to see if he can turn Blake into a true superstar, as well as Drummond, but more so with Blake.

I'd be appreciative of anyone who gave me a contract for $35 million too.

Good for Casey. He really catapulted Nick Nurse's coaching into a great contract and individual award.

I would have fired him if I were Toronto's owner.

I'll try to keep an open mind here, though, depending on how he handles the roster and runs the offense. I expect the team will improve defensively.

Again, he lost three times in the first round, each time as the higher seed, and two of the times getting swept.

Red Auerbach can't even imagine that.

 I just don't see it. What great player was lurking on the bench to come in and save the Raptors? He got all he could out of what he had. That's COY X 2, and yeah, Brad Stevens' day is coming. I guess we'll see soon enough if he's a 'buffoon.'
