The Los Angeles Clippers are trading guard Austin Rivers to the Washington Wizards for center Marcin Gortat, league sources tell ESPN.

As frustrating as Austin could be, I still wish him well in Washington. It was just time for the Clippers to move on. The Doc and Austin Show wasn't working out for us.

Beverley to the Suns next, I think.

Complete rebuild can then begin.

I doubt it.
If you want to rebuild you keep Beverly until the trade deadline. Let him get healthy and play. He can fetch a 1st round pick.

although I highly doubt we are rebuilding. This is probably because we expected to lose DJ, and had too many guards. Gortat is a decent center.

My take on this. Just want to see The Polish Hammer & The Boban on the court together.

SGA and Robinson have a shot to work through mistakes now.

would not work for anybody.... Doc should be satisfied by this result... at least he saved his son's career and gave him a fat contract...now it is time to let the Jr. go and Doc can really focus on coaching, not playing favorism ...
If Austin can accept his role as a back up combo guard, he can still develop and get better.... Behind Wall and Beal is no shame, play some tough defense first, let the offense come to him... he should be fine...

Woulda preferred Vuc, but the Polish Hammer is a more traditional PnR big man.

Gortat's have been on a heavy downward trend lately, so technically WAS got the better end of this deal by stat comparison.

However losing the whole lockerroom tension of nepotism and Austin's punk annoying ass is a huge addition by subtraction.

If he doesnt drop his entitled attitude in WAS and tries to go rogue on offense, things will get ugly over there.

Oh man... this feeling, its like a huge weight was lifted off the team's shoulders. Next step is to **** can Doc and clear away all the trash from the previous regime.

He was the first trade option I had in the too many guards thread, so this isn't unexpected and I do expect another veteran guard to go. I did expect a bit more value, but it's fine, no big deal. This signals DJ leaving too which makes things interesting.

Gortat is just a filler, the main win is freeing up playing time for the rooks and young guards.

This actually isn't a bad trade for Austin too. He'll be the primary backup at PG and SG and he can be played in lineups with both Wall and Beal.

Now I expect DJ to opt out; think he's going to Dallas. We wouldn't sign-and trade DJ to Dallas as we won't want take back any salary.
Austin was/is not a JW type of player and Gortat should be at least adequate for this year.

I had a feeling that we were going to trade Austin away. So that's one guard down now. Glad that our young guards get plenty of chances to develop.
I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!
