I'm trying to temper my expectations but this kid has me more excited than Knox from an entertainment perspective. Knox will probably be more productive out the gate but I can't help put get excited about big blocks and crazy dunks. Looks like I'm going to need to pull up that Westchester schedule.

This is the most promising and exciting part of your post, particularly when you consider how late he started and how quickly he's progessed to this point. I'm not comparing him to the KD's and AD's but a tricked out DeAndre Jordan or, at best, on par with Embiid are within his reach.

He rebounds and block shots and can run the floor. I would take that alone from him. Do the dirty work. Him and KP togetehr with Frank at the point would be doing teams dirty on the defensive end. I want Frank to be great. The only way I take Kyrie is if Tim finna dip.

Kyrie
Ntilikina
Knox
Mitchell
KP

Lord.............

Completely agree. This is why it is of the utmost importance that we move Tim.

yeah Mitchell isn't a 4. His main strength in high school was elite rim protection while one of the questions was could he get out & defend the perimeter consistently. Very possible that's something he could've been working on and could continue to improve on as he grows but I think with what we know about him right now, he's a rim protecting 5 right now.

Mitch is not a 4, but imo he can hang with perimeter players.

It remains to see how good he will be at the NBA level, but he did not come up like some stay in the paint plodding Big. He switched out to many a permit player and shadowed a few of them.

He is quick-twitch, so he can react to a lot of things physically in an instant. He should be strong on closeouts.... teach him the fundamentals and there won't be anything he cant do on the defensive end. He is a better athlete than Jackson Jr and Bamba and they can hang with perimeter players.

I'll give you that he does run well for such a big kid but i still can't see them playing out of position at the 4 spot. We will see.

wouldn't be shocked if mitchell were ready for the main roster, especially if kanter and KO both go.

He's a better athlete the Bamba but JJJ...not so sure on that one. We all know by now that the kid has all the talent needed to play in the NBA but he has a shyt ton of work to do to actually be able to do what he did in high school in the NBA. I'm looking forward to summer league and g-league.

I'd love if Kanter and KO are gone and we run Mitchell a lot. I wouldn't hate seeing Noah play some minutes as well. We get to build a defensive identity and get a high draft pick while developing players.

If you are playing mitchell and KP together, mitchell is better suited as the 4 defender probably. just want to see KP stay vertical and not chase people around to preserve his health.

This! nothing else matters. Adding another top pick with developing players and a healthy KP is attractive.

I would not be shocked if Mitchell pans out similar to Whiteside. He might suck for us, but then be awesome for a Pat Riley team.

Defense is more scheme than positional. Keeping KP(or anyone) from having to chase players around is more about the players and scheme. Having players who can guard multiple positions goes a long way here. Having players who recognize their rotations and roles also helps. Having KP covering the perimeter and the paint at the same time is pretty bad. Players not rotating over when he HAS TO help cover for Kanter leaves his man wide open.

Banging with bigs down low for position is NOT a good way to use KP on either end. He's not built for it. That's why he did fit with Kanter. If Kanter could defend...then KP doesn't have to help as much.

Things we won't know until KP gets back either way.

Enes Kanter said he wouldn’t mind being a mentor to new Knicks rookie center Mitchell Robinson, who was drafted Thursday in the second round with the 36th pick.
“I watched videos [of Robinson],” Kanter told The Post of the 7-foot project. “He’s athletic. He’s going to be really good for us. He can bring a lot of energy and have an effect on the defensive end and he’s just going to get better on offense.”
