In reality we should have Amare do it. He owes us for all the wine baths and nonsense. And yeah yeah, Amare isn't Mr Fundamental but truth is nobody wants fundamentals. All the top notch fundamental, deep in the post, 20 counters big men are dinosaurs or playing in a reduced role. What's up is down in the year 2018.

What Mitchell needs to learn these days is how to set a pick, take the right angle to the basket, jump/catch/jam. Amare can teach him that. Noah will take care of the rest.

Mitchell need to add some weight. He needs Mike Bibby as his personal trainer.

A Kanter/Noah combo would be the best center in the league.

Let them both mentor him.

Didn’t read through the thread but does anyone know why we passed on Melton?

Why should we have taken Melton?

Because Mills decided he didn't want to shackle Fizdale with a starting lineup of primarily 1's and 2's and he saw a freak 7fter who is just scratching the surface of his potential at a time O'Quinn opted out and Noah is on the downside. But I can see how creating a battle royale between Burke, Baker, Frank, Mudiay, ThJr annd Dotson would be the better option.

Melton went about 15-20 spots too late, imo. I liked him and Vanderbilt for our 2nd round pick. Maybe Frazier.

But I didn't expect Robinson to be there for us. I think he was just too good a risk to pass up. Melton is a likely 3rd guard sort of player. Robinson could be a high end starter.

Yeah if that’s the ceiling it makes sense.

I just really loved Melton. Was pissed that we couldn’t see him play all year.

It's ridiculous that Houston got him, too. Rich get richer.

You are trying to build your core for the 2020’s right now. They liked him, they took him. That’s fine.

In no way shape or form should any of those guys except Frank prevent you from taking a guard if you liked him.

KOQ & Noah should have no effect on picking a big for the future.

Vets and low ceiling guards who likely won’t be a part of that team should not be guiding the Knicks team building effort.

Your logic is beyond flawed.

melton is good. don't know if they were working on trading for another second rounder but would have been very worth it in this draft.

I think you're confusing fundamentals with style. Fundamentals will always be very important. It always matters how you cut, how you set picks, basically how and when you do everything regardless of style. Styles change but fundamentals do not.

But that's the answer right there. His potential, physical attributes and his skillset based on how little he's played makes this a no brainer. We can draft 2nd round guards any day. How often will you find McDonalds All American contributors previous slated as a potential lotto pick that fall to the early 2nd round with this kids skillset?

dakomish23 wrote:In no way shape or form should any of those guys except Frank prevent you from taking a guard if you liked him.

So rather than create some certainty at those spots, you prefer to add to the roster confusion?

dakomish23 wrote:KOQ & Noah should have no effect on picking a big for the future.

Neither should Melton.

Sure we can pick a big anytime. But how often will one with Robinson's potential will just fall to us? Unless you're hope is to continuously be in the lotto until the next KAT gets here, it's a no brainer to get a freak, under the radar C in the 2nd round over a 6'4" guard with a second round pick.

As is yours wondering why we passed on Melton for Robinson.

Mo Bamba probably won't be as good as what everyone thinks he'll be, so it might work out

you're suggesting that they'll both be equally disappointing and it'll make me feel better ? that's a strange path to a win but i'm not picky.

I mean he went to the Magic so even if he does workout he will be on another team in about 4 years.

If only we didn't trade that 2nd round pick for Mudiay, we could of had either one of those two mentioned or a few other intriguing players that went mid-late 2nd round.
