McD is not an idiot. Doug/Wolf are trash.
Not sure about it. Some of his trades has been terrible.
Some of the contracts as well (Knight, Chandler, Dudley etc).
Do you remember the players/contracts we had before McD worked his magic?
Maybe you blocked it out due to trauma

Do you remember the players/contracts we had before he become GM? There is not even a comparison.
like...Warrick, Terkoglu, Childress, Banks?

This is the way to go.
Hell, if Knight plays decent, maybe we even trade him.

He gambles and works with the cards that are given to him. People act like Knight was done in a vacuum. Dragic put him in a tough place and Knight was a fairly promising young star, similar to what Bled was when we first got him. Time, unfortunately, wasn't on our side and had to sign him fairly quickly. I don't put a lot of the blame on McD for Knight.
Chandler was a calculated risk that he was willing to make to obtain a Star FA in LaM. We lost, but a lot of people liked it when we knew what his plan was. Unfortunately again, we swung and missed. But Chandler, as bad as we've been, has helped. Not on the stat sheet so much, but without him, can you imagine the dumpster fire that we could have been left with? It was bad, sure, but could have been much worse, IMO.
It's easy to look at their contracts in a vacuum and say he sucks. But he didn't go out and sign Warrick and Childress out of the Fing blue, either.

We don't speak about that on this board.

He did not have a single bad contract on the roster.
He did have five players that have been playing in the playoffs this season with a big role on those winning teams.
Dragic (All Star)
Tucker
Marcus
Markieff
Gortat
He drafted Len at #5 and he thought that he ans Plumlee were good enough to handle the C position for the next few years....what a joke.
Gortat was a solid C for the last five seasons (last one was his first season regressing) and cheaper than Chandler.
McD is not a genius. Ainge is a genius.

How certain are we that a trade is actually in the works?

What has Gortat done for the Wizards?
What has Kieff done for the Wizards?
In fact Gortat was just traded for Austin Rivers.

Lakers - Lebron and PG13
Durant stays in GS.
Kawhi to Boston.
I just don't see any team outside of the Lakers going after Kawhi. He already said he only has eyes for the Lakers and maybe the Clippers( but they have nothing to offer) and any team other than the Lakers are just jeopardizing their future if they go after him(Celtics and Sixers). Right now the Spurs are just in a lose-lose situation, they know they have to trade Kawhi to the Lakers and they won't get much in return because Kuzma, Ingram, Hart and whatever else won't be enough

Being better than a zero doesn’t make you good. Hornacek was better than Lindsay Hunter but does that make Hornacek a good coach? Nope just less worse than Hunter.
Our standards have gone down significantly.

It definitely looks good on paper. He’s also had like 5-6 years.

GMs shouldn't be graded on a curve. Just because blanks was terrible doesn't mean mcd gets a pass.
I can't believe no one brought up his hiring of Watson. That's a major red mark on his gm ledger. He's quite literally one of the worst coaches I've seen in over 30 years of being an NBA fan.

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming Wow! What a Ride!-H.S.T.

Ainge wasn’t that good from 2003-2007. Again, everybody read this, because you won’t see another defense of McD as thorough as this. I certainly haven’t. https://medium.com/p/4da31aacb25b?source=linkShare-f36d4045f79a-1530204199
