I can't believe no one brought up his hiring of Watson. That's a major red mark on his gm ledger. He's quite literally one of the worst coaches I've seen in over 30 years of being an NBA fan.

I'm convinced that was purely because he knew Watson would lose them a TON of games and it was all a part of getting the Suns a number 1 pick and some other good young pieces through the misery that was the past few seasons. Also, why hire a big money coach to do the same thing?

IIRC, Ryan McDonough is the only GM in NBA history to have not made the playoffs in his first 6 years on the job and not be fired.

If I’m mistaken about this, (which I don’t think I am because I believe I read it in an espn or si article) he must be one of very few to have been afforded this luxury.

It makes you feel bad for guys like Rob Hennigan (who was terrible but never got the leash that McD did) etc.

The problem with Watson - it stunted the growth of very key playes. Chriss and Bender in particular. It was a horrible decision to keep him when so many candidates were there - even cheap ones that would have been better. As for McD - he is lucky to have a job.

ESPO didn't like that i tweeted DAve KIng back something he said about fans and I said "blame this on your buddy Espo. three horrible years. a fanbase looking for news and he pulls that nonsense. know and understand your audience."
He responded with "give me a break"

fact is - the effer knew what he was doing and did it anyway.

Take a look at the current roster again.

We have been a joke for the last three seasons and we do not know how good we are gonna be next year.

I will give McD props if we are a winning team next season.

On Friday, the Suns have to decide whether to guarantee the second-year contract ($1.37 million) of guard Davon Reed.

Then, on Saturday, the Suns have a deadline as to whether they’ll pick up guard Tyler Ulis’ $1.54 million contract for the 2018-19 season.

No, why are we taking on Deng? Deng is the Lakers problem - not ours. He has two years - not one. You find a deal for Ball that doesn't have Deng coming to Phoenix - I will look at it. I am not sure I even take Deng for Knight - I think Knight can still play. I know DENG CAN"T play!

What about this one - garbage for garbage but it might fill the Suns needs better based on Arnovitz podcast with Lowe where he suggested Lin for Dudley and Bender. I thought "way too much for Lin to give up Bender so quickly" So:

Brooklyn gets Chandler, Dudley and Daniels maybe a 2nd
Suns get: Carroll and Lin

Lin helps at PG; Carroll is probably better than Dudley. Suns keep Williams. And still have 10m to get another player. Again its garbage for garbage but might help the Suns at two positions

def need to keep Reed another year or two to see if he can become the 3 and D wing we think he can be. Ulis can leave, Peters can leave, Shaq Harrison I'd keep as that gritty 3rd pg or bench guy.

Ulis is gone and keep Reed as he might be needed and there is not that much of a gain to the cap - $700k. And I actually would like Reed and Shaq to be 14 and 15 on the roster. Wonder if there is a market for Daniels? I mention Dudley and Chandler but 3.2m from Daniels would be easier for a team to take on and give the Suns a bit more space with cap.

Watson was just a babysitter. Nobody wanted to coach this team.

I probably wouldn't do that exact Ball/Deng deal because it includes Chriss, but if the FO has decided they've seen enough of Chriss to know he's not going to pan out then I'd probably do it. Definitely not opposed to taking on Deng for Ball. Ball/Booker/JJ/Bender/Ayton along with Knight/Warren/Bridges/Okobo probably becomes the most intriguing young core in the league. And I think we could still open up max cap space in 2020 when Deng and Knight come off the books. Well worth sacrificing the 2019 FA class for IMO.

People need to realize that the whole idea of Ball/Deng is that Ball is the prize for taking on Deng, hence no sending out useful players. If we sent out any play, it would be because instead of dealing with the Lakers straight up we would be part of the 3-way that lands Kawhi in LA, and it would most likely be us sending Chandlers expiring to San Antonio for him to spend his last season with Aldridge. Spurs get Ingram/Kuzma/Chandler/Lakers draft picks for Kawhi.

This is the way to go.

Do we have to use our cap space this year (on 1 year deals)? Or can we just not use it and still have the same amount of space next year?

Probably. Right?

Love described his panic attack happening on Nov. 5 against the Atlanta Hawks, a game where he played just 18 minutes and left in the second half. Love says he visited the hospital when he couldn’t control his racing heart and felt short of breath, and although his vitals all checked out, the incident led Love to realize the seriousness of mental health issues.

In the worst few moments sitting on the bench disorientated, and later while in the team training room, Love remembers feeling like his body was telling him, “You’re going to die.”

Tom Gugliotta 2.0 Suns fans?

If it goes down, Bender better not be involved. I'm betting the Cavs are strongly pushing for Bridges if any of this rumor is legit.

Yeah I'd expect ulis to be cut. I with you on Reed, no reason to give up on him yet since the savings are minimal and I think the injury just wrecked last season. Both Harrison and peters are non guaranteed so might as well let them play summer league and come to camp to compete for back end of the roster spots.
