Man, I could go for some ribs right now.

Had some chicken wings from Publix earlier. Added some Frank's and sriracha to them, then broiled them in the oven for a bit. So much better.

Why do we want to trade assets for a 1 year rental? Would make more sense to trade the trio when we have that 2021 cap space. Trade them for Giannis, add Lillard and Beal.

Honestly, I feel like you kind of have to take the gamble. We have some nice pieces in our young guys, but none are much more than glorified role players (except for maybe Bam but even that is a gamble). You kind of have to take the risk for a top 5 nba player that has vacationed here in the past and sell him on the franchise's history and hope he bites. Riley loves disgruntled players and although he's never had to deal with one that's adamant about being with one franchise in particular suddenly, you gotta think Riley takes the risk. Also, I'm not 100% sure that Kawhi gets traded and still tries to force himself to the lakers unlesss its a complete horrible situation.

Might as well wait to draft Zaire Wade too while we're at it.

Patience is part of the game. Throwing away assets to give you a brief moment of satisfaction would be asinine.

As far as Kawhi is concerned with the way he's openly talked about going to LA he's killed a lot of leverage that the Spurs had. For the Heat I don't think the hardest part is putting together a package for him, it's losing him for nothing inevitably.

Very true. If he has his heart set on Cali then Cali it is. He's a west coast kid that wants to go west. Not much else you can do when someone has their heart set on a certain destination.

+750 is not a good number to be at right now for the Lakers in the gambling world to acquire Leonard. I'm sure a lot of joe public is putting down on that considering Kawhi's request. Books are not in the business of giving away money. Spurs might be really hell bent on keeping him out of the West and some of these East teams like Boston or Philly may be willing to gamble on selling Kawhi championship aspirations and max money to go with it.

Yea' that's a lot scarier than most opportunists here want to admit. Logic being that if he leaves, we could tank in a win/win situation the following year but that could turn into an ugly situation quick if we trade most of our young guys for nothing and our tanking just produces duds and role players on the first few tries

Especially if that precedes Riley retiring, dangerously dark slope, to start over by giving away assets instead of the latter

In respond to Heat3 post in the last thread, eliminating Hassan of the books for a second rounder is getting a lot of value actually. You're finding room for bam, you're getting clear under the tax and can bring back Wade and Ellington comfortably and run a pace and space kind of lineup that you can't with Hassan. It's addition by subtraction. You eliminate the our puss from the locker room which is also a huge positive. It may not create significant cap space but you're one TJ trade away from having all moveable assets again.

Did I miss this? Did he openly say that he wants to be with the lakers or is it all sauces ? Wasn't it the same way with Paul George? Im a believe that you get Paul George here and even if the Heat sucked last year he would have still come back because Riley would have convinced him and sold him on Miami, that's the exact thought I have on Kawhi currently.

The Lakers reportedly haven't offered Ingram in any packages yet, I don't see how they get a deal done without him. The Celtics are obviously a team that makes more sense for the Spurs but without a commitment from Kawhi and knowledge of his health, I doubt they bight.

Regardless of what happens with Kawhi the Spurs are gonna be a win now team, if they lose him they're going to want players with potential so they can keep competing.

Lakers at -250 are the overwhelming favorites for Lebron. I have a feeling Paul George joins him. You dont have a TV special to resign in OKC. I think Spurs know this is coming and want no part in giving the Lakers Leonard. Not on Pops watch.

If Lakers get commitments from LBJ and George then Leonard loses leverage in his free agency year cause they might not have space to sign him when things are all said and done.
