So if Lavine fully recovered from his ACL tear, do you not believe he is our best player with the most potential on our roster?

If he hasn't already recovered fully than that is a very bad sign and that means he's having a hard time recovering.

He does have some of the most potential. I would say Lauri has more potential and I think Dunn and Carter have more potential also. So I would say he's 4th in potential and approximately in the 10 to 14 range for actual impact. So he could be the Bulls best player next year but he is definitely not clearly the Bulls best player right now which is what you said. He is clearly one of the worst players.

Ok If Lavine is fully recovered IMHO he is our best asset/player beside Lauri hands down. I’m not understanding how you can sit here and type that Lavine is one of our worse On this roster?

Bulls better not Fing match that. They would be complete idiots if they do. Let him go. Just the fact that the idiot Kings want him that bad should be enough of a reason not to. That is about $19M per year. No way. Say goodbye if that happens.

That would definitely get matched. He isn't getting less than $15 million, but won't get $20 million. Whether he deserves it or not is irrelevant at this point. It's all about whether the Bulls still believe in him and Paxson recently stated that he does.

We'll see. I have a little more faith in Pax. I just don't think he's that stupid.

Nope
KC: Do you still think you're a championship-caliber team?
Gar: I never said that and correct me if I'm wrong.
KC: You were asked that question at the news conference announcing Thibodeau's dismissal and you answered yes

It's because of how bad he sucks. How many missed shots he creates. How bad he is on defense. How bad all metrics have shown him to be across 4 years, two franchises, and 3 coaches.

I mean you're already back tracking. You literally just said that he is clearly our best player. Now you say he's our best besides Lauri.

He's a very talented player with very poor instincts who really sucks. He could develop into an All-Star or he could be basically the next Nate Robinson with better length and less toughness. I do believe enough in his potential that I would pay him $26 million next year to play basketball for this team. But that's it. Team option on the second year. He is a player that sucks and I'm not committing multiple guaranteed years to a player that sucks. A 1+1 deal gives him 1-2 years at high pay to prove that he doesn't suck. That would be 5-6 years total which is more than enough.

Stupid because he might not agree with you? According to KC Johnson $15 million is a number they would be comfortable with. If they are OK paying that much another couple of million should not be a big deal.

Let's see. Lowest IQ player on the roster. Tunnel vision. Despite scoring a bunch of points, he doesn't make the offense better. Didn't make the the Wolves offense better when on the floor, in fact made it WORSE. One of the worst defensive players in the entire league. Makes the Bulls defense much much worse. Made the Wolves defense much worse. Not a good playmaker, or passer. Doesn't make anybody around him better, in fact makes everybody who plays with him worse. The team got beaten down by 13.2 PP100 when he was on the floor.

In what World is that a top player on any team. He jumps high, runs fast, won the dunk contest. He's not a good basketball player though. At least hasn't been in his four years in the league.

He has been a negative impact player for four seasons. Ok, for three seasons. Even in the period just before his ACL injury when he was semi efficient, he still was a negative impact player.

Well to be fair they also thought the Bagley love during pre draft was a smokescreen just to secure Doncic. But we saw how that turned out.

Personally I'm kind of iffy on LaVine. Either he pulls an Indy Oladipo next season and we get him on a value contract OR he stinks it up and has huge chunk of team salary wasted on him ala Wiggins. I just don't know with LaVine. Hopefully whatever we do ends up being the right call.
AKME? More like MEAK with how they're afraid to make a move to push us in one direction.

Exactly, with any such contract, it's a gamble at the end of the day. Even when you make the right call, sometimes it ends up being the wrong one because of injuries.

You just have to weigh all the risks, and make a decision and hope for the best.

You know how to avoid that? Offer him 4 years 72 million and be done with it. I seriously doubt LaVine would leave Chicago for Sacramento over a few million. He wants to be a Bull and he can make that difference up in endorsements. He got that Adidas money only because he got traded to Chicago. All I heard from you LaVine critics was don't bid against yourself. Now it looks like he may not be as undesirable as some of you thought. So with that being said they should make a good faith offer that slightly less than what they think he would get from an offer sheet. It's that simple.

I was thinking closer to 15-16 mill per for 3, not 77 million over 4 yrs. If the Kings really will offered that to Zach, then the Bulls better walk away.

Well, we are all going to find out really soon here. It wouldn't surprise me either way. It would surprise if the Kings actually make that offer. But, they are the Kings and they have been the worst run franchise in the NBA over the last decade for a reason. I would rather see the Bulls not match, don't commit the cap space, and go after a big FA next summer and them another one the next.

I don't even agree with League Circles about paying him big money for one year or 1+1 with a team option for the 2nd. I think that is the worst situation. Then, if Lavine breaks out, you are looking at paying him even more than that after next season. Instead, you either lock him up for multiple seasons on a team friendly, "prove it" deal. A tradeable even if he remains a highly negative impact player with gaudy raw counting stats. Or, if that big offer sheet does show up, you just say goodbye and call it a day.

Just amazes me that the reports were that the FO was high on LaVine when they made the trade but after he struggled a bit coming back from injury "mid season" and only "playing 20+ games" they become uncomfortable (Like wtf was anyone expecting?) in giving LaVine a contract.

That's just F'n dumb.

How could a 1+1 where he breaks out be a bad thing? If he legitimately had a breakthrough season why would we even care about the money at that point? Yes it would suck to not have him on a cheaper deal, but that happened when Butler bet on himself and it worked out fine.

Exactly. Of course if he breaks out in retrospect it would be better to have him on a cheaper deal than on a more expensive one. But it's still a great thing to have a great player even on a maximum contract! Like you say with Jimmy Butler yeah the original offer that he turned down as an extension would have been better. But it was still great when we got him for the max! The key thing being I do not expect Zach to break out. I expect him to improve a little bit and still be pretty much undesirable for our long-term plans and then we decline his team option and let him go. No harm no foul.

In his first few games he looked good, then his minutes started to go up and he started to struggle due to tired legs.

His struggles should have been expected. Coming back midseason on a new team with no Summer working on his game, nobody will come back and look good in that situation.

Well yeah they should have been expected. He struggled his first three years and then he had a major injury. Of course he would struggle even more is 4th year.
