Re: Trade and free agency speculation
One name I have not heard AT ALL from any team for any amount of money for any role lol is MY MAIN MAN ISIAH THOMAS!! AND NO, I AM NOT SAYING WE SHOULD SIGN HIM (don't you put that evil on me Rickey Bobby!!) just blown away at how he was expecting the "Brinks Truck" to be backed up in Boston after having a great year (cant argue that or take that away from him), to nobody wanting him in the least. How much does he get and from who?!?!

Aldridge was great last year. I didn’t expect that pitch to go well, though.
DING DING DING mutha **** DING!
That is EXACTLY what I have been telling this board, but nope, no one listens. The media and fans of other teams down play our players, shame us into being called a homer if we'd take Booker over Tatum for example, while they build value in other teams players just for stuff like this. I mean you'd swear Jaylen Brown was a franchise player....

So now you are basically willing to give up Warren, Jackson, Bender and a 1st for a JJ Ball swap

Also, way too many people feel comfortable on the GB bashing our players and organization, helping out that narrative as well. I would love to see Laker or Celts or Sixers' fan just once say something negative about one of their players.
Too afraid to speak up for your boys for fear of ridicule from scrubs.... **** that.

It was said to be the clincher for James as a Laker.
Kevin Love was quickly assumed, but I don’t think that makes a ton of sense.
Instead, it would make a lot of sense if we helped Kawhi get to the Lakers. If Kawhi were headed to the Lakers, maybe we end up with.....LaMarcus Aldridge?
Consider:
http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yd2yjltu
LAL in: Leonard
LAL out: Ball, Ingram, Kuzma, Zubac, 2018 LAL 1st, 2020 LAL 1st
PHX out: Warren, Chandler, Jackson, Bender, 2019 MIL 1st, maybe Chriss
PHX in: Ball, Aldridge
SAS out: Leonard, Aldridge
SAS in: Chandler (bought out), Ingram, Jackson, Kuzma, Warren, Zubac, Bender, 2019 MIL 1st, 2018 LAL 1st, 2020 LAL 1st (protections?)
Something like that.
It satisfies every rumor:
1) gets LeBron to LA
2) gives Spurs a Godfather offer
3) gets TJ to the Spurs, where I feel like Pop might love his game and demeanor
4) gives the Spurs a hard reset
5) I think I saw somewhere that someone thinks a Ball was headed to Phoenix, although I can’t find who said it. Pretty sure it was one of the AZ radio guys
6) gets Aldridge out of SA after Kawhi bounces
7) gets Aldridge to his runner up destination
8) gives us a point guard
9) finds a spot for Ball that isn’t the Spurs
I don’t know. Easily my craziest suggestion yet, but it makes some kind of sense
Ball/Booker/Bridges/Aldridge/Ayton, and we still have cap space
**** man, NO!
What a horrible trade

Amazing that a human would say 'nah, i'll pass on 35mil'. I know he'll get that, AND more next year, but just crazy to think that someone could have that much power.

Something to toss around. Would anyone be willing to take a look at a deal for Kanter?
Seeing as he's expiring, we wouldn't lose much. Just depends on how much NY wants for him. But we'd get a tough guy on the floor and not compromise our cap situation.
Could be a simple trade too if NY is OK with getting a young cheap asset back:

Likely eliminating Houston from the picture (not that many had hope he'd go there anymore anyway).

I understand with Kanter the Suns could probably offer Chandler or a combo of Dudley/Daniels to save the Knicks some money but not sure they would even do that as Kanter is a better player - for the money. Knicks don't seem like they are the type to want to save on cap space or cash. Maybe if the Knicks got Warren - so Chandler Warren for Kanter/Thomas. The Suns move on from Warren creating caspace next year but is that the best of use of Warren. Similar to your deal but moving more long tem salary in Warren.
Its Friday so a new deal of the day - but maybe Ariza on an overpay for one , maybe two years seems more appealing then Ilyasova.
Just would need PG

If it came down to Shabazz Napier or Fred VanVleet for the starting PG spot, who do you choose and why?

Coming off surgery, he probably won't get interest until he's fully cleared.

What are Napier's strengths/weaknesses? I imagine he'd be cheaper too, no?

If Aldridge was 25, I'd be all over that trade. But he's way too old to give up all of those assets. He's 32 and only has a couple good years left in him.

Quit trying to make Ball to Phoenix a thing. I still really want to be a Suns fan.

bwgood77 wrote:Non guaranteed contracts would probably help the most. It's ridiculous that guys can sign a deal and basically not care anymore because they have their money for 4 years. It will never happen but it would make the league far more competitive if all teams could drop dead weight at any time. In the NFL, most every team has a chance every year to at least make the playoffs, and fewer teams make it....so you have that hope every year and with fewer games it makes games so much more meaningful.
I agree 100%. When I first started to understand how contracts work in the NBA, I couldn’t wrap my head around the fact that players get the full amount in their contracts regardless of if they still give a crap or not.

Re: Trade and free agency speculation
Peltons article today:
my take after reading the article - the Suns can get around 17m - we know that. If they use Chriss or Daniels in a trade - stretches that number to maybe 20m. There should be players to be had with so few teams having cap space. Also does a guy like Chriss have ANY value in a sign and trade -FAvors, ARiza - or is that team just willing to move on entirely. But at worst 17m - should get two solid players one would think if Pelton is right about the market.

You'd be plenty happy watching Lonzo on the fast break getting buckets dishing to Bender or Booker in the corner for 3, playing good defense, rebounding, basically a young Jason Kidd in the making.
Lonzo's dad is an idiot but Lonzo the player? All he has to do is get a little better shooting and he's going to be a star. Yeah I"ll take that 10/10 times. Dad included, we'll figure him out later. If I get a pass first smart athletic, good defending, long tall pg? I take that.

his max deal starts at 9.5m - I don't want a poison pill like the heat did with Johnson but can the Suns do in reverse an make year 1 higher to have raptors think long and hard.
LeBron opting out might make Raptors go for it one more year with that crew knowing right now, they are 2 or 3 in East.
