The only guards I'm interested in from the FA are Tyreke Evans, Fred VanVleet, Rajon Rondo, Avery Bradley, Marcus Smart, and Shabazz Napier, but none of them move the needle enough to give over $10M/year over multiple years. We're reportedly not interested in Rondo and Smart, Bradley and Evans are more shooting/combo guard than point guard, and VanVleet and Napier are not proven starters.
Ersan Ilyasova and Trevor Ariza are the only veteran forwards that were interesting to me, but Ariza is more of a wing. I wouldn't mind giving Ilyasova a 1 year contract. Mario Hezonja is an interesting option that showed improvement and played some 4 for Orlando this year, but he's more of a flier than an immediate contributor. I'm not a big Julius Randle Fan, and he'll probably be too expensive for us. Aaron Gordon is somewhat interesting, but certainly not for a max contract. Jabari Parker is a gamble after his ACL surgeries, and I'm not sure how much I like his fit as a poor defender on our already bad defensive team.
It'll be interesting to see what we do. The free agent class is pretty weak, especially at the positions we are looking at. I'd prefer short term contracts to maintain cap space for when we're attractive to free agents.
