I guess you have that opinion but I don't think many others agree with you.

Here are the sporting websites that gave Donte Divincenzo a higher draft grade than Brown.

Sporting News (C+ vs C), CBS Sports (A- vs C+), the Ringer (A vs. C). Others like Sports Illustrated had them rated around the same (B+). SBNation had Brown rated as a better prospect.

NBADraft.net had Divincenzo rated 12th while Troy Brown was rated as 20th.

It is hard to view either Brown or DiVincenzo as good/bad picks- time will tell.

Divincenzo a bad pick WITH Brown on the board
This season we'll be all watching which of those guys are helping their teams this year and comparing them to what Brown is doing

Tiwian Kendley and Phill Scrubb also on the roster. No clue about either

Kendley played at Morgan State. I didn't list him because I've seen him play. He's a camp body. Scrubb is no Canadian Scrubbini!

Penava actually has a 7’5 wingspan, which is legit center size. He’s Jokic lite. Wouldn’t surprise me if he looks like the best player on the court in summer league and turns into an impact NBA player.

Posted this before, but look at his numbers per40:

21.2 points 11.5 rebounds 2.6 assists 1.3 steals 5.4 blocks. .643 TS% 27.6 PER. 9.2 BPM, specifically his DBPM was 6.6 (elite).

Penava's stats were definitely eye popping. I just do not think he will ever have the strength to play the center position. The G League will definitely help him.

Yeah, just that the potential is there because of that length and his insane standing reach.

With his handles, and supposed 3 pt shot he could be a stretch 4. If he's actually as good a defender as the numbers suggest he might be worth some playing time by seasons end cause Keep will indubitably suck ass when it matters most. I'm guessing he can prolly get a 2 way deal. But if the way they didn't even try utilizing robinson last year is indicative of anything... you just kinda gotta hope the team starts 0-10 and brooks gets canned.

What's his standing reach? I

9’2 standing reach. Same as Jaren Jackson, longer than Wendell Carter, Jontay Porter.

Would’ve been tied for 6th best at the combine (all players above were taller, except Giannis’ brother who was also 6’9)

Are we waiting to training camp to sign another 2-way player? Is there no-one from SL we should snag?

Penava managed to do nothing in SL, but somehow I wish we'd give him a camp deal or a 2-way deal or something & get him on the Go Gos.

I imagine he can make a lot more $$ playing Europe, so maybe that's where he is.

I think Penava also has a confidence problem similar to what Vesely had. He has no motor or intensity that was shown in the very few minutes he did actually play in SL. Playing at a small school and not really seeing great competition can change your mind unless your are mentally tough. Penava may just never be an NBA player. He can definitely find a career overseas whether that be in Europe or Asia.

Bumping this thread, because having just traded Meeks we are 1 player short of the required 14. We might convert Robinson or McRae, or we might find an undrafted guy who is available & promising. Even if we convert Robinson or McRae, we'd have room for one such guy as the 2d of the 2-ways.

Any thoughts?

To answer my own question... :)

Nat & I were both really positive on Gary Clark who went undrafted in June. I would have signed him before the sun came up the morning after the draft! But... it was Houston who signed him. (Obviously, a mediocre team like that needs young talent much more than the Wizards do...).

I just looked, & unfortunately he isn't available, because he's made the Rockets. In fact, he has absolutely killed it all pre-season. For example, he's produced 36 points on 24 shots!! Shooting 56% on 3pointers (& has taken 9 per 40 minutes).

Of the other guys I remember liking best, Alkins, Trier, Newman, Duval, & McCoy, all are on teams except McCoy whom the Bucks waived -- Christian Wood cost him any chance.

Like Birch & Wood, McCoy came out of UNLV. Is 3 a charm?

Converting Robinson sounds good. Have to check the waiver wire to see if anyone good was cut.

I think we'll do that even if we convert Robinson -- now that we have the Go Gos we have something good to do w/ that 2d 2-way guy.
