If I'm a western conf playoff type team I'm signing Avery Bradley to play vs GSW

Still wasn't a great trade by any means, and Melo actually ended up worse than expected (even with his "sacrifices"). But, it's ultimately more of a garbage in garbage out trade than anything horribly one-sided.
The contract is what makes it so bad. So, while they didn't trade much for him, they have no cap space now because of him.
I think they would still be capped out with Kanter instead, but could be wrong on that.
Capped out regardless
It was no value/negative value traded for no value/negative value.
Kanter wasn't going to fetch anything worthwhile from anybody. With that said, it probably would have been better to have Kanter (even if he was on the bench) over Melo.

Looks like that PG gamble may just pay off for OKC. Despite PG apparently being so sure he was going to LA. Would you imagine that. Crazy how a year playing with a team can change someone's opinion.

Just heard Lebron landed in L.A. for what it’s worth. He has a house here. It could be he is meeting with the Lakers and or Clippers.

I mean with Simmons and Embiid you have to think they'll throw it at someone that can hit 3s.
They don't need frontcourt help but options are quickly running out.
Seems like they're already down to grabbing one or two of: Tyreke Evans, JJ Reddick, Avery Bradley.
Any of those would be good for them, Evans could be game changing if he repeats with that 20 5 and 5 season on 40% from 3 he had last season. Basically being what Fultz was supposed to be after he developed.
With Ben Simmons as your PG who can cover 1-5 you could even get away with singing Evans and Bradley and throwing out a
Simmons (defends SF)
Bradley (defends PG exclusively where he's the best in the league)
Evans ( defends SG)
Saric/Rcov
Embiid
lineup. Surround those guys with 3 point shooters, add Evans as the secondary ballhandler that it seems to fit the mold of the 2 ballhandler offense we're seeing a lot of team goto and you're well one your way to a balanced roster that doesn't scare me at all due to lack of star power. But very well could be penned in for 50+ wins and the ECF birth.

Hope they sign Melo after OKC stretches him.

Is the OKC/Indy trade one of the few big win-win deals in NBA history?
Banned temporarily for, among other sins, being "Extremely Deviant".

Granted, that extra $8-9M over Kanter in the lux tax hell they're in is rough, though. I find it hilarious that the cheap franchise-stealing **** owners wouldn't pay the tax for Harden w/ Russ & KD, but are not paying it for Melo with Russ & PG.

No doubt
It was a mistake. I'm curious to see if they stretch him to spread the hurt or just bite the bullet this year. Their franchise value has gone up nearly a billion over the purchase price.

Always felt like he would thrive on a team with Harden, LeBron, Simmons, etc. Ball dominant wing players. Rockets may make some sense with what you're saying, especially after losing Ariza.
