I’m not shocked we kept him but I’m shocked it happened this quickly.

I like it.

He showed that he can be an important part of a playoff team, maybe he can develop even more (more efficient shooting) and becomes an option at starting at power forward for us.
I also think the contract is valued correctly, no overpay but no underpay either.

I just hopes that this doesn't mean that we are trying to dump Adams. Right now we are looking at an salary of pre-tax $ 150 millions (that means the luxury tax is in the region of another 80-90 millions on top).

Edit: After seeing Ed Davis signing with Brooklyn for 4.4m for 1 year, I don't feel that good about this anymore.

I enjoyed Grant this season. He still can't shoot but he's got his place in this league.

Am aside, between him, Ferguson and Diallo we might just have 3 of the 5-10 best dunkers in the league.

I think we overpaid a little for him.

Yeah, I think so too. Considering that Roberson got 10 million a year and is a much better player than him. But who knows, if he can keep getting better, he might be worth it in the long run. They need to stop forcing him into roles that he can't play in. He's not a wing and he's not a fulltime Center (unless you put a rebounding monster at the 4 and strong rebounding wings next to him).
"I don't know of any player that, when the shot goes up, he doesn't want it to go in," Donovan said

I think he'll be a great value. He can even start at PF this year if Melo's gone
Great blocker and length, good defender, He had stretches of season where he was 3p reliable, cuts hard and doesn't lose much with what he's not able to do.
2M more than Abrines is another way to look at it.
"Between his free-roaming defensive impact, his offensive activity and a knack for getting to the free throw line, Grant has figured out how to make the best of the skills available to him. If he can up the level of those ball skills going forward, even better. " Mark Deeks in his Manifesto

I like it. Slight overpay by 2M/Yr or so but who knows what kind of offers other teams would throw at him and he has been improving and I don't see why it won't continue.

I like it too. Not as great as the roberson signing (if he stays healthy) but still nice value.

We still need shooters though

I think they looked at the market and said ok if we offer $9 million a year. Only 5-8 teams could make that offer if they wanted. It also secured a quick deal and he is very swtichy its a little of an over pay in this market I believe but hay it’s not our money.

Next step backup point guard or power forward!

Or shooting we could always use some more shooting.

Remember when this board thought Grant was a joke? Look how far you guys have come. Everyone is celebrating the re-signing of Mr. Jerami Grant. Congrats, Jerami!

I think it's a pretty massive overpay, he's worth about half that, but you couldn't risk him testing the market.
“If you're getting stops and you're making threes and the other team's not scoring, that's when you're going to see a huge point difference there,” coach Billy Donovan said.

at this point it's not like the extra dough is harming the team's flexibility in any way.

grant has some outside potential for becoming worth this amount but i think most likely we get to year three and are hoping he doesn't pick that option up.

maybe a spencer dinwiddie like leap is what they are hoping for.

Grant was visibly better this season on the court... and he's only 24 (late blooming) this was a good deal

Yeah but I think it's worth it. The dude is getting better slowly but surely. He needs to add some more muscle and he could be a better version of Ibaka.
