Zach Lowe is also writing its Knicks or Nets as prime competition for Boston next summer if Irving were to leave.

Yet, Kyrie has gone on record to say he grew up a Nets fan and a Kidd fan and the second best option is a Bronx native who's a FA next summer.

Might as well move the damn franchise to Seattle. We'd never attract a soul in the next 30 years according to this board.

If the Nets were a hot spot, or if Kyrie's love for the Nets meant anything, why didn't Irving push for a trade here?
In contrast, Kawhi Leonard grew up as a Lakers fan and he's literally pushing his way onto a team that won 35 games and isn't even anywhere near a position to compete for a championship as constituted. Lebron just opted out and is going to sign with them most likely.

This is all about the location and the prestige of the franchise.

The Nets will be in the same position that the Lakers are next summer. I guarantee you none of the big free agents will be angling towards coming to the Nets. No one cares about the Nets in New York, and in turn, no one cares about the Nets across the country.

any "superteam" that gets formed in Brooklyn will be done via the draft over the next 4-5 seasons. period.

have you listened to sports talk radio? Its as if the Nets don't even exist. Not one word about our draft. everything is about the Knicks.

what big time free agent is coming to a team that can't even get a crowd to cheer for them at HOME, nevermind be the subject of conversation on sports talk radio?

The Lakers have sucked balls for a minute but I guarantee in California they are still the talk of the town. why? past prestige.

you may give a **** about the Nets. I give a **** about the Nets.

no one else does, including NBA players.

You never know bro, remember Dwight was dying to come here at the prime of his career. We just have to get some great pieces and players who other guys would like to play with. People and players are noticing that our FO is ran way better than the Knicks, especially with how our current players always give high praise to our organization. I wouldn't doubt that Kyrie wouldn't want to come here, NYC has so much to offer and is very unique place, we all know this. Not to mention all of the endorsements by being a star here even though we have high taxes. Who ever decides to sign here first and be able to put this team on the map will become a hero . Once we get a star there will be a bunch of bandwagoners.

I have to see it to believe it. Everyone saying nice words about the Nets is cool. But let me see those two max contract slots get filled by game changing talent next summer and I'll believe things have changed for us. Until then, we are still a non factor in the league.

And if Dwight's dumb ass wanted to be a Net he wouldn't have pulled that last minute stunt. **** him. That's another reason why I can't fathom how people wanted him to play one single minute for this team

^ One of the reasons I'd like the Nets to make the playoffs is to make Dwight feel foolish about not sticking with the Nets.

I'll take the lottery pick, thank you very much

I'm glad Dwight didn't want to be here. He is a toxic man baby

He'd be kicking himself over the money he gave up not to play here.

yeah... he would be kicking himself for losing 2-3 million dollars he is missing out with to play for a 28 win rebuilding team?

nah.

I'd like to think that the reason Kyrie didn't put the Nets on his trade destination list was because we didn't have anything to give. And we really didn't, especially compared to what Cleveland ended up getting. I think as a FA, that would change for him. As long as we play in NYC, we're bound to become a big FA destination at some point. The Knicks haven't done **** in decades and they still get mentioned in nearly every conversation. I know their fanbase is much bigger than us but point is that its about the market more than anything.

Also, supposedly the NBA cap room for 2019-20 season is projected to be $109 million, and then $116 million in 2020-21. That's great news for us. We can sign Joe Harris to a deal while still retaining the around the same cap space we originally thought we would have in 2019.

He'd be kicking himself over the money he left on the table especially if somehow this becomes a playoff team. Especially after he retires and goes broke.
