If they added in the best player in the world and perhaps even another top 3 player (if he's healthy) yeah thats not good news for our championship aspirations lol.

If they got just one of them, thats different but still not great news.

And yes I have faith in the Celtics but I would rather sit back and have the east be ours 100%.

I don't believe the Sixers will end up with Kawhi and LeBron. That just seems super farfetched to me.

We'll see, I guess, but I don't see how they could possibly put together a good enough offer to SA without LA caving and making a better deal. And I think that's the point of all this.

And where will Kawhi re-sign? And is LeBron willing to join the Sixers? And what’s LA willing to do to feather a nest for LeBron?

I’d give up Jaylen if Kawhi were willing to stay put with a guarantee like Garnett gave us. Match salary by lining up a couple of deals - Yabu/Nader for a more expensive player, Morris for a more expensive player, Jaylen + more expensive players for Kawhi.

I am getting that bad feeling about Philly that Truth18 often speaks about. I hope this don't happen. But from a basketball point of view only, Lebron to Philly just makes too much more sense then the trash kiddies in LA unless Savannah really does have Lebron by the balls (which I hope she does).

Philly knows 100% their roster as is, does not get by Boston. Hell not a healthy Boston team or half a Boston team. We owned them last year including the regular season.

Even if Philly got Lebron and we got Kawhi I still give us the edge since Kawhi can slow down Lebron.

OK, another question. Assuming Brown and Tatum continues to play as well or better than they did this season, do you in the summer of 2020 want Hayward to opt into his $34.2 million player option for the 2020-2021 season or for the Celtics to give him an even bigger contract that year?

Hayward will turn 30 in March 2020. So in July 2020, he will have completed 10 seasons and probably will be eligible for a deal starting between $35-40 million. Maybe more if online gambling increases the cap much more than anticipated over the next two years.

By then Kyrie would be earning over $35 million if he's still on the team. Jaylen Brown would be an RFA that summer as well.

Do you give him a new deal, hope that he opts out of that $34.2 million salary and signs with someone else or he opts in for one last year?

I guess it would depend on whether this roster has won any titles by that time or how close they've been, whether Hayward has had big playoffs runs for the Celtics in the next two seasons.

But if Brown and Tatum are only improving in the next two seasons and playing bigger roles and minutes in the playoffs, it may be tough to pay Hayward that kind of money.

I really try not to be paranoid or assume bad faith. I know fans of other teams can have opinions that differ from ours without being trolls. And I don't want to be that guy who's jeering out every rival fan just because of their rooting interest and not the content of their posts.

But it gets really hard to give folks the benefit of the doubt when every single Raptors and Sixers and Warriors fan that has come in here in the last 48 hours is trying to convince us why we should give away our assets, or won't be able to retain them, or won't be able to get who we want, or will never be able to contend with them, etc. etc. etc.

It's remarkable how all these other fanbases know what's best for us, if only we'd listen.

I've seen 2 other posts from this guy in the Celtics forum. One of them was asking how much we would pay Smart, and the other thread was him telling us that we would need to get rid of some of our young guys because we couldn't afford everyone.

I am perfectly calm, been lying in the sun all day and relaxing. Nobody is sitting around freaking out about this but trying to have a logical conversation I guess about the long shot of Philly getting the ultimate offseason is forbidden I can see.
