No, SA lost all their leverage. Kawhi will only resign with the Lakers most likely, so no other team is going to trade for a 1 year rental.
Lebron told Magic not to maker any desperation trades.
I would give up Lonzo & some 1st round picks at most.

your reasoning is perplexing. forget what kawhi said. he becomes a laker imperative. if sas wants to keep kawhi for the year that'll be a year wasted for the lakers. it's a matter sas getting the most for kawhi(which by any stretch will not be enough) versus the lakers IMPERATIVE to grab him.

If everything that clown Stephen A Smith says is true, the Spurs are in a awful situation right now. Apparently Leonard has let it be known that he only has eyes for the Lakers only. No team is going to pay a hefty price for a 1 year rental. As for the Lakers, they can easily hold on to Ingram, Ball, Kuzma, etc. and just elect to sign him next season

Yep! the one year deal for KCP and the possible one year deals being offered by the Lakers pretty much sums up the plan to have a full max again for Kawhi again next summer. The Spurs know this and I think a deal gets done soon now that LeBron has signed and the Celtics and Sixers made it clear they will not trade any of their young studs for Kawhi.

Real problem is how to make that roster competitive

No more cap space, Randle might be leaving and they need reinforcements

Tear it apart via trades or welcome to cap hell
