If he keeps doing this, he'll simply get legit beat out by other players that want his minutes. He's not good enough to be this unprofessional and immature.

Posted it in the summer league thread, but this guy appears to be a huge bonehead. Gotta hope the Celtics culture fixes him. And quickly.

I will never understand some people. Most athletes would kill to be in this guys position. Oh well. I’m still holding out hope, but an absolutely terrible start for the rook.

I have no idea what is going on in this young man's head, but when people self-sabotage, sometimes they are afraid of the challenge. I hope I am 100% wrong, but maybe he is not cut out for this level.

Maybe he is just immature. ****, only he knows.

He needs to learn how to be a professional first. Never mind the oncourt stuff.

15-20 for the Claws is about right.

I don't see this as a maturity issue. Being able to accept criticism and instruction to improve your game is an indication of maturity. Staying dedicated to a diet and training regimen is an indication of maturity.

Managing to catch your flight to your first NBA practice is just a "do you even care at all" thing

I did a quick read, didn't get anything yet; does he have an agent or an agency working with him? If he doesn't, he better start building a camp asap. The game is too big to wing it all on the fly.

I think he will be getting about 5-10 minutes a game and some DNP’s. IMO, he will not be a rotation player this year. The only ways he gets more minutes than that is if he beats out Theis and Baynes. I don’t see that happening this year.

He doesn't have to "beat out" anybody for PT. Don't get why you see it this way. He can be worked in the mix. He's already the best rebounder and rim protector not to mention will get plenty of cheap points on lobs and putbacks.

Again this has nothing to do with the current roster. If he continues to F up then it's all going to be moot.

My point is this is a championship caliber team and we are loaded with talent and depth without Williams. This team was one good game away from going to the Finals and that was without Irving, Hayward, and Theis.

Our top 8 are Irving, Hayward, Tatum, Horford, Brown, Morris, Rozier, and Smart. Established rotation guys are Baynes and Theis. Anyone else like Semi, Yabs, Williams etc will have to fight for scraps. Minutes will be hard to come by for guys like the last 3 I mentioned if we don’t have freak injuries like last season.

Dude you're not telling me anything I don't know already.

You can say till the cows come home the roster is set, the rotation is established etc etc blah blah blah... But if last season taught us anything, nothing is set in stone.

Brad plays the best players period. It's all on Williams to decide how much he wants it.

Yes, he switched agents recently to Bill Duffy--one of the top ones, and an agent from his team was at the presser on Friday. You know there aren't a lot of good flights from Shreveport to Boston, and for him to decide to fly back down there again over the weekend was a bad idea--let alone schedule the return flight for the morning of his first practice--and of course then miss that flight.

Missed a flight and missed first practice? And, after missing phone call on draft night. Who the F did we draft? I would get a real good look at him and if he is a dog, don’t even offer him a deal.

This is annoying. I don’t care about circumstances or anything else. Kid needs to get his **** together.

F this. Be professional or your ass is cut.

That’s why I mentioned if the team is healthy. It’s not all on Williams and how bad he wants it. There are plenty of players on this team that want it just as much if not more.

I’m happy seeing him in SL and in Maine at some minutes during garbage time. And Brad does play the best players and we have 10-11 better players than Williams at the moment.

We will see.

There are situations where different skill sets are best, and Danny has said he'll have opportunities (in the plural) to play this season. That said, the probability of him working out is dropping rather quickly here.

Yes I hope he gets opportunities to play. I personally like his game.

I would not get to upset about him missing his first practice. His life is probably pretty hectic since being drafted. He is a country boy moving to a big city, while saying good bye to his momma. He is doing things he has never had to do before. Also the airports are packed right now. I would wait until he gets settled in before judging him harshly for missing a practice. I hope his agent can help him get settled quickly.

There is a reason a lottery potential prospect fell to us at #27. Didn't expect it to show this early but here it is..

Having that said..it's probably easier to teach a good basketball player how to behave over teaching a well behaved kid how to be a good basketball player. So not all is lost.

Hey Rob, the nick is "Tantalizer", not "Infantilizer". Get with the program!

Seriously though, are we forgetting that 7'6" wingspan? Dude could practically fly from Louisiana without a plane.

I think he's going to be fine. Needs structure, and time. Once he gets a few blocks or putbacks in summer league, many of us will be creaming our jeans again, ie:" "Steal of the century!", "Start Williams NOW Brad!", "Trade Horford NOW Danny!"

My fear is if basketball isn't really in his heart. We could have a Larry Sanders* on our hands. NBA life is not for everyone even if you have the talent.

It's actually "good" that it's showing really early and this is happening prior to the season. Cs would know how to manage him. Hopefully, he responds in a positive manner in the coming weeks.

*closest comp I could think of the top of my head but I just realized he was also dealing with mental health issues IINM.
