Thats what this feels like to me. I think Magic and Pelinka are getting way too much credit for this. This has more to do with the city than the Lakers. The league is happy bc Magic gets his star and the media and Silver dont have to worry about both the two biggest markets being irrelevant for another season.

Also, all those players you listed would get destroyed by CP3 and Harden - KCP...what? He hasn't been a great defender in years. Lonzo ball is only a good team defender. Hart is typical Lakers hype like Jordan Clarkson was his first year. Stephenson is a good defender, but he has never played well outside of Indiana. LBJ didnt play any defense this season.

The Lakers currently are not better than the Rockets were last year. Why do you think that is? They dont even have kawhi leonard yet.

Okay.

The Rockets had

Mbah who was one of the best defenders in the league last year before he got hurt

Trevor Ariza who is one of the best 3 and D guys

Clint Capella who is a top 5 center last season

Eric Gordon who is a top ten shooting guard

PJ Tucker who is a stellar defender, and is one of the reasons why the Rockets are a top 5 defense

The Lakers have

Hart...who is a rookie.

Lonzo Ball....who is a rookie, and not even particularly good for most of last year.

Kuzma...who is a rookie, he's a okay starter at best right now.

KCP...had an okay 2nd half, but nothing special. He would be like the 6th best player on the 2018 Rockets if Mbah were healthy.

Who else is on the team? Brook Lopez?? Come on man.

The Lakers as they are now are a 2nd round exit team, and that's assuming that their young bucks improve a good bit.

Yes..the 2018 Rockets have a better supporting cast, I don't get how this is even debatable. You're saying KCP and Josh Hart are lock down defenders, lol? The Rockets were a top 5 defense last year despite having James Harden, their roleplayers do work and are perfect fits with each other which is why they can take a team like The Warriors to the limit despite having half the star power.

If the Lakers get Kawhi Leonard, then we can talk - but by the time that happens the LA roster will be different for better or worse.

Mitch rushing to sign MozGod to that hellish offer at the 1st minute of free agency says all you need to know about what this has done to the expectations of the franchise now.

He’s in the western conference now there is no skip 3 rounds and collect a finals appearance anymore. He made it clear this is a buisness move.

Look at that roster minus Kawhi that team isn’t getting to the finals. With Kawhi it would be a struggle. GSW just became the fan favorites of the league again because no one wants to see the Lakers bragging. Hope Curry gets 6 rings as a clip fan and they continue the trend.

You don’t even have a second option yet. This is a much better conference. Look at that roster it’s disrespectful to every other West team especially the Warriors to think they just leap frog everyone.

If nothing else puts a bigger target on the Lakers every night to opponents will prove something. This is the first time in years Lebron has no BIG 3 supporting him. No I’m not trusting Lonzo broken ass shot, passive Ingram and unknown Kuzma.
